Absolutely the Worst Experience – Avoid Kia of Baton Rouge
My experience at Kia of Baton Rouge was hands down the worst I’ve ever had at a dealership. I brought in my 2022 Kia Telluride for routine maintenance—oil change, tire rotation, and to address three recalls. I dropped it off around 12:15 PM and it was checked in by 12:36 PM. I returned at 4:30 PM, and it still wasn’t ready.
I had asked for a car wash as well, which didn’t happen—apparently, no one was available to do it. That was disappointing but manageable. What wasn’t manageable was the rest.
When I got in my car, I noticed the old oil change sticker was still on the windshield. That’s never happened in the 3.5 years I’ve owned the car. This made me question if the oil was even changed. The interval hadn’t been reset, and no one explained how to check it. It felt like I had to jump through hoops just to verify what they claimed they did.
Then I checked my tires and realized they hadn’t even been rotated—despite charging me for it.
If you know Baton Rouge and Prairieville traffic, you’ll understand how frustrating it was to call the dealership six times with no one picking up, all while trying to care for my newborn. I drove all the way back, only to be told by the service manager that I hadn’t been charged for the rotation (I had). Then he tells me they don’t use windshield stickers anymore for newer vehicles—which is news to me.
He reviews my paperwork, sees the issue, and tells me someone in the service department said the tire rotation wasn’t done because the approval came in late. But if that was the case, why was everything else I approved completed without issue?
It honestly felt like they didn’t expect me to notice—maybe because I’m a woman. But I noticed everything. They didn’t even call to ask about the tire lock, which would’ve been necessary to do the rotation in the first place.
The cherry on top? The manager says, “Let me take over now and get it done.” But at that point, I didn’t have time—I had a newborn in the car. He says it would only take 5–10 minutes, but that just made it worse. If it was that quick, why didn’t it get done in the FIVE hours my car was already there?
I will never return to this dealership. My sister was planning to buy a 2025 Sportage tomorrow, but we’ll be taking our business elsewhere. Unprofessional, unsympathetic, and completely disappointing. 0/10 – do not recommend.
