We went to Charlottesville Colonial Auto Center to sell a vehicle, no trade or purchase, from an estimate from Kelley Blue Book on Sunday 5/3/26. Martin Haggard got in touch with me Monday morning to set up an inspection and discuss a buy price for today. We got there on time and he was ready to negotiate. Everything went better than expected and even got a 45-minute ride back home with Shane. Awesome dealership and awesome Sales and associates. Service department scheduled a recall repair, then tried to upsell for other repairs. They did not call or text to say the truck was ready. Dropped off at 7:30 am, finally went to service department to pick up truck, it was done at 3:00 pm. I left phone messages and texts prior to going back, and asking when it would be done. Receptionist called after I had already picked up the truck. First time at this service department and most likely the last.

The worst. Took my 2020 explorer to have a axle leak fixed and and the top mechanic tell me its not leaking when there was axle oil drenched on the felt bottom cover and dripping from actuator on front axle .I had to drive back to the dealer to show and argue with him where is was leaking.He finally agreed to fix it. After 2 days my vehicle was still outside nothing done .Girl at the service desk was rude and said this place is a xxxx hole. She was waiting on warranty to call back. So i called the my warranty company they said nobody called about anything on my vehicle. I just took my explorer and left.

Awful experience at the service department. Not first time that had to take vehicle back for them to fix their mistakes. The service manager does not return phone message and is not easy to work with and does not have good customer service skills. They don't want to take accountability for their lack of knowledge on certain vehicles or when they damage part of your vehicle and then try to claim that is the way it is supposed to look.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT! - Wise Green Owl

I recently scheduled my wife's Subaru Outback for routine maintenance at this dealer's service department. The car was supposed to have the oil and oil filter changed, spark plugs replaced, and air cleaner installed. My wife dropped her car off for a day and brought it home the next evening, PRESENTING ME WITH A BILL FOR $1352.37!!!! The dealership did not do the work I had requested; rather, they did something called "Premium 60K Service". I contacted the Service Manager and expressed my outrage. He promised to check into it and call me back. One of his service technicians called about an hour later and claimed that "my wife had requested the additional work." Now, my wife knows nothing about auto maintenance and would not have understood any jargon which may have been used. But there is a much larger issue at stake here, and that is THE ABUSE OF CUSTOMER TRUST!!! When I schedule a vehicle for maintenance at an auto dealership, I expect them to do the work I have requested, AND NOTHING ELSE. If they think additional work is necessary, they should CONTACT ME FIRST!!! We will never visit this dealership again, and have made a point of telling everyone we know to avoid them. If anyone ever suggests you do business with them, I suggest you RUN, NOT WALK, AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION!!!

I don't usually submit reviews so it takes exceptional service for me to take the time to do this. For friendly service without pressure contact Rhonda Smith-Carnes. She takes the time to understand your needs and answer your questions. We tend to keep our vehicles for many years so a new purchase is a big decision. Rhonda was patient and realized that letting the vehicle sell itself would work best with us. While it may be a long time before we purchase our next vehicle we hope that Rhonda will still be there to help us again.
