Anjanie Waddy was absolutely great to work with & we work with her again. The man who joined the process, however, the “right your number” and sign this scrap piece of paper tactic so I can run it to the b with her again. The man who joined the process, however, the “right your number” and sign this scrap piece of paper tactic so I can run it to the back is absolutely ridiculous. We can do with out the hard press, thank you. We were honestly about to walk out the door because of it. Not at all what I expected from Jim Ellis. Anjanie, was very nice and professional & she is why we continued. More

We wanted to work with a sales person whom my friend had worked with previously, Hilton. When we arrived, Hilton was with another customer and could not see us. We asked him for a solid sales rep. He sent us to Anjanie, who was anything but. She was inexperienced (by her constant statements of, “I’m new. I have to learn more about this…”), unprepared, not up to speed on basic knowledge of the cars nor of the basics of the Finance offerings. She was looking at the web site with us as we were deciding which trim line of CX-30 we wanted to consider. She was looking up the info along side us – she did not seem to know anything about any of the differences in the trim levels. I asked whether Jim Ellis was tacking on any kind of dealer premium to list price at this time…she didn’t seem to know what a dealer premium was, even after I asked in 2 different ways. I had to confirm that with the Finance manager eventually as she literally did not understand what I was asking. When we decided on a trim level, Anjanie (AJ) located one. Before we drove, I wanted to make sure the numbers were going to work for financing. AJ told us that Mazda was offering 0% financing. We told her that we were financing on 60 months, and she told us that as long as the credit score qualified us, there would be no issue. I calculated the numbers based on a negotiated out-the-door price on 60 months at 0% with $6,000 down and we were happy with that payment. As soon as we got handed off to the Finance Manager, he informed us that the 0% was offered only on 36-month term loans. The best rate we could get was 7.4%, which drove the payment up by approximately $70/month. So I negotiated down to a price that got close to the monthly payment amount that we thought we were getting on the 0%/60 month deal. But even to get to that deal, once we confirmed on: total cost, terms, APR, tax, and down payment, the payment amount I calculated was $21 per month lower than what he presented to us. I asked – how can I be getting a different monthly payment amount than you? He responded by saying that the first payment on the loan wouldn’t be due for 90 days. Why would anyone in his right mind defer the first payment for 90 days?! I had to ask him to recalc the loan based on a customary 30-day window before first payment, and only then did our numbers match. He said that many customers want the 90 day window. I think that’s hogwash – if they knew what that 90 day grace period were costing them over the course of the loan. Then the Finance Manager started presenting us with the customary add-ins (like prepaid maintenance, tire & wheel insurance, etc.) as expected. He started quoting how much extra the monthly payment would be based on the packages individually/bundled, etc. – all as expected practice. Then I noticed that these add-ins were being offered at “$X/month on 63 months.” I asked, why are we seeing these prices based on 63 months when it’s a 60-month loan? He responded that they automatically extend the loan term by 3 months because it eases the increase in monthly payment for these add-ins – again telling me that “many customers want to do it this way.” My response was, this is apples & oranges. The base loan is on 60 months; these payment increases are based on 63 months. This makes this process impossible to really understand. Only after I prompted him to change the add-in monthly amounts term to 60 months did he show us numbers that actually made sense. In the end, we got a good deal, but only after myriad misinformation, mistakes, really slimy tactics, and constant calling them out on their misleading at best but truly unethical tactics and attempted tricks. I am an informed consumer who understands basic Finance, and only because of that was I able to get a good deal. More
