Let me provide some background on the issue and VW Service remediation steps. Problem: VW Jetta TDI 2013 Check Engine light is on and throwing faults for the DPF/ERG systems. Diagnostics: Tec Service remediation steps. Problem: VW Jetta TDI 2013 Check Engine light is on and throwing faults for the DPF/ERG systems. Diagnostics: Tech ran the diagnostics and confirmed. GPF scan determined that fault recorded was PO2002. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2002 stands for “Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1).” Recommendation: Jetta will require a replacement GPF in addition to a set of EGT sensors that will not likely be reusable. Estimate: $5485. Replacing the DPF in a Jetta TDI is a complex and time consuming operation, requiring a large number of parts and hours of labor. The parts alone for the DPF are over $2000 with the total coast almost eclipsing the value of the vehicle. Service Team: My service agent for the repair was Jonathan Lacey. I discussed options with Jon and asked if I could provide the parts for the work as I have contacts with VW parts suppliers (ESC Tuning, DAP) who provide original VW parts at significant discount to what is charged by Colonial VW. Jon agreed that if I could purchase the parts they would use them. I order the parts and they arrived in 3-5 days. The maintenance (DPF replacement) was conducted and completed in just over a day. Service Experience: My experience with Jonathan and the Colonial VW was first rate. Jon kept me appraised throughout the process, answering my many questions and concerns. - Parts provided were installed without issue - VW tech determined that 4 of the parts were ultimately not required and stored them in the vehicle. I return them to the supplier and received a $300 refund. - Outsourcing the VW original parts saved me over $1000. I was very impressed with Jon's professionalism and customer focus. His flexibility in considering alternatives that could reduce the cost of maintenance was greatly appreciated. I would strongly recommend Colonial VW to others and also return as a customer in the future. More
