I arrived with my towed vehicle late Friday afternoon helpful. Sadly, the rest of the AutoStar service experience on this occasion rated no stars. I arrived with my towed vehicle late Friday afternoon and the service rep immediately made me feel unwelcome. I explained that the SKIM warning light was showing steady on the dashboard and that the car was stalling as soon as it was started (typical of a SKIM failure). The rep took my details and said he’d try to get to it Monday. I asked about a loaner, a rental, or a ride home (the AutoStar website offers car rental) but the rep dismissed those ideas in short order and I set about walking the four miles to my home, carrying my two heavy bags and under a blazing sun (no Ubers or taxis out this way for Friday happy hour). Late Monday the rep called to say that the problem was not the SKIM but the idle air control and the fix would be “$750 out the door,” as he put it (plus a three-day wait for parts). This didn’t sound right to me – there had been no signs of any idler problem prior to the SKIM light coming on and, after checking with a couple of my mechanic pals, I decided to tow the car to another shop. The car arrived Tuesday evening and was fixed by Wednesday afternoon. When the second shop plugged in the DRB-III scanner, only one fault code came up: P1685, which is a SKIM fault. A new SKIM and new keys and the car is working perfectly (with, of course, zero idle problems). I don’t know what kind of special diagnostics AutoStar uses but they really shouldn’t be charging $109 for the mis-diagnosis in this case; and a little CRM training for the service rep might not be a bad idea. I haven’t mentioned the rep’s name intentionally: I sincerely hope that his reflection on this issue helps him to become a better and more considerate agent for AutoStar. More

Greg Sessoms is awesome! He found me a car with everything I wanted and made it happen within my price range. He is very friendly and great to talk to when experiencing the inevitably long wait fro everything I wanted and made it happen within my price range. We had 5 people in front of us for financing and waited until 9 PM, and Greg stayed with us the entire time, even though he did not have to. He brought us snacks and drinks to keep us comfortable while waiting. I can not reiterate enough his friendliness. I despise going to car dealerships because the sales representatives are always so aggressive and trying to force deals and cars on you that you do not want. BUT NOT Greg, he listened to me and what I wanted and found it, there was no attempt at convincing me to take some completely different car, there was no attempt to force me into the warranty that I asked to be removed, there was no belittling of me or subliminally trying to make me feel incompetent. A car sales is in the sales representative, and it was him and his personality that sold me on wanting to purchase my car through this dealership (despite having 2 other cars lined up). I drove 10 hours to look at a car that I found online and really liked, but could not stand the disrespect I received from the sales person, so I went to see Greg and loved him and the car he showed me and ended up purchasing a car here instead. If you go here I recommend you talk to Greg because he is the best, especially if you are shy like me and don't like feeling harassed and unheard. He even called me to see if my new car got me home safe after the 10 hour drive he knew I would be taking after camping in the area (because he cares and remembers you as an individual). More
