He got me an estimate for the repairs I signed and was seated in the waiting room. Bill approached me several minutes later and let me know that a tech was to pull the vehicle in shortly and he would update me on the findings. To my surprise Bobby followed up with me a few minutes later. He held out his hand and in it was a small stone that had become stuck in my brake system. He explained that I did not need the brakes replaced the stone was the cause of the noise. Bell Honda could have easily sold me brakes but instead they removed the stone, fixed the problem and did not charge me for anything. Stand up honest service! I will be back to Bell Honda for all my future service needs. Thanks Guys! More
Shawn Hicks was very friendly and helpful, without pressuring me into making a purchase. I wish I had read the reviews prior to dealing with Bell Honda . I am confident that any and all reviews on this website are paid for by a third party service. Horrible absolutely horrible experience with Honda . I am confident that any and all reviews on this website are paid for by a third party service. Horrible absolutely horrible experience with Bell Honda! We buy cars every year and have dealt with the best and worst dealerships but Bell Honda has set a new standard for sleazy! Let me start out by saying I am blessed to not be in a position where I need a car Summary of what went wrong My salesman was bitter, angry, and continuously complained about his ex-girlfriend, the cost of his insurance vs. mine, the amount of money he is no longer making, and just hated life in general. He used foul language and was very unprofessional. I may be a young female but like to be treated like a customer not a buddy. The car wasn’t ready when I got there; in fact I had to wait two hours before even seeing it. (They brought it from another dealership) I requested pre-approval before I ever stepped into Bell Honda. I was reassured that I had received it and when I arrived was informed that pre-approval to them did not mean financing approval! All they did was run my credit and guesstimate that they could probably get me financing at a decent interest rate. This was a really big issue to me. I was lied to about the mileage on the car they stated it had 10 thousand less miles then it actually did. (This is a big deal when dealing with banks, there is a huge difference between a car with 70 thousand miles vs 80 thousand) I was lied to about the model of the car, they stated it was an LX it was actually an EX. Although that worked out better for me, when driving 3 hours to see the car it would have been a deal breaker if they this situation was reversed and they told me it was a higher model when it turned out to be the lower one. They tried to force me to pay $900 for an alarm that I didn’t need or want. Yet somehow managed to drop the charge and “uninstall” the alarm even though they never stepped foot back into the car. After reassuring me that I did not have to add the end of my current vehicle loan to the new vehicle loan they informed me that “my preapproval” was only valid if I agreed to let them pay off my current car. (It was $1600.00 dollars, I could have paid that off cash) this was frustrating to me. They then used the paying off of my current vehicle to justify a payment that was $150.00 dollars more a month then what I had requested. They insisted on another $1000.00 down as if it was no big deal! I had the money no problem but it was not what we discussed and frustrated me. IT GETS WORSE ON TO FINANCE The finance guy seemed to be friendly enough at first. However he quickly became unprofessional as well. He also thought it was appropriate to use foul language and treat me like his buddy instead of a customer. NO PROFESSIONALISM. He offered all the typical junk that jacks up the price of your car. Better yet he was honest when I asked if they would call me and ask for my first born child soon after I sign the paperwork. He assured me he could get me a lower APR and this was the worst case scenario. I was not happy to begin with to find out that they did not secure financing as I had requested prior to my arrival at the dealership. The idea of driving a car home and “pretending to own it under dealers terms until financing is approved, does not appeal to me” I felt trapped now since I was dropped off at the dealership. So I signed every document they put in front of me, and drove the car home after 7 hours of being in that dealership. It had been one long day. Here are the problems with finance I contacted them to ask for the payment schedule and was ignored. In fact even as I write the review 90 days later I still have yet to receive my payment schedule. After the car was in my possession they stated to me that they had secured financing and it was just what I wanted. Oh but it was a payment difference of 10-15 dollars month. They will FedEx me the paperwork just sign. The paperwork was at a 3% interest increase, the difference in payment was $3000.00. That to me is in fact a “big deal” When I explained this to the finance guy he retaliated defensively and stated that I should be thankful he secured my loan with a credit union and I can refinance later. I explained to him that financing at 3% higher is not a favor and I was more than willing to give the car back. He stated he would look into it and call me back. I promptly threw the financing paperwork in the trash. I already knew I wasn’t going to sign. I received a text message later that day that said “what time tomorrow are you bringing the car back” I informed them that I wasn’t. Per my contract if I don’t agree to the terms they could repossess the car…so reposes away. The dealership is a 3 hour drive. I didn’t want to take time to do it. When they threatened to report the car stolen, we explained we would leave the car at a police station. When they threatened me with towing fees, I explained to them a few hundred in towing is less then the $3000.00 interest rate increase they were trying to make me sign. So a few hundred in towing didn’t bother me. Then they started insisting I must go there in person, they could work something out but I absolutely had to drive 3 hours to their dealership to do it. I let them know that if I chose to do that I would not make the drive in the Honda so if they had plans to try to pressure me into signing that way it wasn’t going to work. They refused to send me another proposal contract in the mail for “fear I wouldn’t sign it and then they would have to charge me” Long story somewhat cut short, they were rude, procrastinated, lied, lied and lied some more, and did everything they could to get me to show up back in their dealership. One cancelled down payment check and nearly 30 days later… They magically were granted the ability to drop the price of fees, the interest rate, and warranty to provide me with the payment I had asked for, an interest rate closer to their original proposal. They all of a sudden had the ability again to mail me the paperwork to sign and I didn’t have to show up in person as they insisted. HOWEVER they only did this by once again lying about the mileage. They understated my mileage by 13,000 to the lender. Bell Honda did you think I wouldn’t notice that???? Once they mailed the documents to me finance became very communicative. After I informed them I signed they once again dropped off the face of the earth. And last but not least after all the paperwork was signed the down payment checks issued etc. Remember my previous car loan the $1,600.00 loan that they insisted they needed for to be paid off because they could not secure financing without it. A complaint issued to the BBB, 75 days, 14 phone calls later they finally sent me a check to pay off chase bank for the car loan. They stated they had “no record of any vehicle requiring pay off” This experience was not worth the hassle! I have the privilege of being flexible about my purchase but I feel horrible for any customers who go in and do not know how to fight back or who’s trade in’s are held hostage. Don’t be fooled by the big car lot, they are still slimy characters with old salesmen tricks. More
Shawn Hicks overcame my impression of 'car salesmen'. I had visited other Honda dealerships, but their salesmanship, follow up, and integrity were questionable. Shawn was candid, available, and antici had visited other Honda dealerships, but their salesmanship, follow up, and integrity were questionable. Shawn was candid, available, and anticipated my needs. He is the antithesis of my pre conceived idea of a car salesman, several of whom I had experienced at other dealerships. He made notes of my needs & interests, didn't waste my time, and countered any of my emotional reservations with well reasoned responses. Shawn is an excellent example of what customer service exemplifies. Additonally, both Chris & Justin, in finance, were helpful and efficient. Well done, guys! More

Overall my experience at Bell Honda was very good thanks to the professionalism of Fleet & Internet Manager, Jesse Hoffman. Two days ago I purchased a 2012 base model Honda Fit. Jesse earned my business by to the professionalism of Fleet & Internet Manager, Jesse Hoffman. Two days ago I purchased a 2012 base model Honda Fit. Jesse earned my business by being the quickest responder to my Internet inquiries. He was also the first to "talk turkey" in terms of price without being obnoxious or using strong arm tactics. I felt price and financing terms were fair and consistent with my expectations given a less than stellar credit score. The only reason the price is rated good instead of great is due to my poor negotiating position, not due to any failing on the part of Jesse or the finance department. I am very grateful that I was able to purchase a new vehicle despite a 2006 bankruptcy and a foreclosure in 2011. What soured my overall experience with Bell Honda was the unnecessary "bad cop" tactics employed by the Finance Manager and his Manager from 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Terms had been agreed to with Jesse and another finance person at about 9 p.m., and I was told that things would probably be wrapped up very quickly because everyone wanted to go home. While waiting to sign paperwork, it was explained the long wait was due to transactions being completed with another customer. That I believe and accept. What upsets me and makes me feel like I was emotionally raped were the high pressure tactics and guilt trip laid on me by the Finance Manager and his Manager at the 11th hour. During initial negotiations I made it exceedingly clear that I could not afford larger payments. Everyone knew I was very tired. Still I was subjected to convoluted doublespeak trying to sell me on the concept of GAP insurance, car washes, maintenance, etc. all done with a piece of 8.5" x 11" paper and a royal blue fat-line marker by the Finance Manager for a very long time. After I again clearly reiterated I could not afford larger payments and did not want the services offered, I was subjected to another go-around of high pressure language from the Finance Manager's Manager. Finally I was allowed to sign a piece of paper that stated it was not necessary to purchase all the unwanted services to obtain financing. The last part of completing the transaction could have and should have taken only five to ten minutes had I been presented with paperwork clearly outlining the services "offered." Instead I had to listen to the sales pitch in a way that was demeaning especially given how tired I was. I feel it was a sleazy and inconsiderate ploy to wear me down hoping I would agree to anything--in this case a monthy car payment increase to the tune of almost $100/month--just to seal the deal because of the inference that I should throw a rather large bone to the finance company, in addition to the very high interest rate to which I had agreed, because I was such a poor credit risk. Once home, I could not sleep, not because of excitement and happiness from acquiring a new vehicle, but because I felt I had been disrespected. Prior to being allowed to sign the paperwork, it was no consolation when the Finance Manager's Manager told me "all" the dealerships do this and they have to offer the services. I understand "offer," but that is different from guilting and slamming unwanted services down someone's throat in a way that is confusing and insulting. I had a very different experience when I bought my 1999 Honda Accord in Colorado, but then I came to the table with $10,000 down and was in a much better bargaining position. Fortunately, Jesse Hoffman has continued to demonstrate professionalism and good ethics by continued follow-up with respect to delivering my vehicle to me on his day off, taking the time to express thanks with both email and phone calls, and assuring me that he is there to run interference for me in the event I need anything related to the Honda Fit in the future. In time, memory of closing the deal will fade, and hopefully, I'll only focus on the joy of driving my new car. Other than price which I consider good to very good, I would have rated all other categories a 5 (great) had I not suffered from a very unpleasant approach when completing paperwork to purchase. More

I was leaving the following week for Disneyland. And, I wanted to be sure my Honda was in good shape for the drive from Phoenix to Anaheim. My experience with Bell Honda began with their website and easy online tool to schedule an appointment. The other enticement was the free maintenance check. It was Christmas time and anything free was appealing to me. So I scheduled the appointment. I also called the service department, to ask some clarifying questions. This is I was introduced to Josh Seyfert. Josh was the Service Advisor who not only took my call, he also took the time to explain a lot of things, including their coupons, service area, free shuttle service to home or work, etc. I felt comfortable right away and knew the experience would be positive. I wish my cars maintenance results were as positive as my experience with Josh. To make a long story short, Josh was very helpful. The fact that he and the Service Technician, Doug Ruthroff, were honest and willing to make my experience affordable and manageable through the Holiday Season was an intangible aspect I wasn’t expecting. In the past two months, my Honda has been into Bell Honda’s Service Department, by design, and all of the maintenance requirements have been taken care of in order of urgency. We often tell as many people as we can about poor service and back experiences. I have made it a point of telling everyone I know about the exceptional service I received from Josh and Doug. These two gentlemen have been wonderful. My Honda will always go to Josh and Doug, as I trust them and believe that they care about me and my experience. Thank you, Josh and Doug. You have earned a loyal customer, and car. Warmest Regards, Vicki Whitney More
