Just got back from my 100+ mile round trip from Cornelius, NC to Bob King Hyundai in Winston Salem, NC. Had been communicating with Amanda at the dealership about seeing the new Santa Cruz. They had at least one on site and she assured me it was being held as a demo which alleviated my concerns about driving this distance only to find out the vehicle had been sold when I got there. Had a confirmed appointment for 4:00pm. When I arrived at the dealership there was no Amanda to be found. They did have a Santa Cruz on the lot but it had “just been sold” so no test drive. A salesman allow me to check out the vehicle and sit inside. A nice enough guy but I didn’t get his name because it really didn’t matter as there is no way I would now buy a car from this dealership. Lie to me once, shame on you. Lie to me twice shame on me. Bob King Hyundai/Amanda will never get the opportunity to lie to me twice. More
Unfortunately I had the WORST experience ultimately NOT buying a car from these guys I've ever had. I wasted a week on this. They did the unforgivable: they lied about the availability of a car that I had buying a car from these guys I've ever had. I wasted a week on this. They did the unforgivable: they lied about the availability of a car that I had signed for, to buy, and had given them the $1,000 deposit. They produced a Monroney sticker on a '22 Tucson Hybrid EX-L, allegedly in Roanoke (toughest car in the country to find these days) that would soon be mine. In reality, they had no ability to obtain that car from another dealer (why WOULD another Hyundai dealer trade one of those away right now?). They absolutely KNEW they had no car as the ink was drying on the sheet. Several days passed. I heard nothing. I called and the Sales Manager admitted they had no car. He pretended he knew nothing of what the salesman had done, as if he wasn't in on this technique, blaming it on that salesman, as if HE himself was a victim. The classic good cop/bad cop shtick. Had they been honest from the get-go and said it might take many weeks or months to get a '22 Tucson Hybrid, that would have been fine. But to get me to sign....that's some pretty shady dealing. I was even willing to pay $1275 OVER MSRP to get that car. They knew I wanted it... they exploited that desire all the way....and thought they could lie me into passively waiting. No. You said you HAD the car coming when I signed, or I WOULDN'T have signed. I've bought a few cars in my 65 years. This embodied EVERY stereotype as to why car salesman have the reputation of.... car salesmen. The next day I bought a Honda CRV EX-L Hybrid from Vann York. Also a high-demand car, it's being built right now for delivery in a few weeks. More
Upon deciding to buy a Genesis G80, I contacted every Hyundai dealership in a 120 radius. None of them compared at all to Dominique Thorne and the others at Bob King Hyundai in Winston-Salem. I understand that the issues related to COVID caused the delay, and it is out of their control. Communication with the service department though has been very one sided. After the first week the car was at the shop I don't think I have been contacted more than one time, if even that, on the status of the car. I have had to call and call and call to keep up with what is going on. Even when messages are left, they don't always get returned, and apparently no one other than the particular service advisor can give me any information on the car. Having two adults and two kids going different directions for 3 plus months with one car has been difficult, and has been more difficult and expensive than necessary as a result of the lack of information. I will be looking for a different Hyundai dealership for future repairs. I've tried to be patient and understanding, but this has gotten ridiculous. More
