I purchased my Honda Accord brand new in 2018. My Honda now has only 65,000 miles on it. The Check Engine light came on, so I towed my car to the Honda dealership in Brandon. The technician Jason informed me that it would be $250 to do a diagnosis on my vehicle. Lugo, the service technician determined that my head gaskets were blown and sent me a video. Jason called me and informed me that unfortunately this was the worst case scenario and it would cost $6800 to have my head gaskets replaced. Jason said “ Most people trade in and purchase a new car when this happens”I informed Jason that I could not afford $6800 right now or want to buy a new Accord. Later that night, the sales department called me and texted me trying to sell me a new car. The next day I had my car towed to a family mechanic where they did a thorough diagnostic and determined there was nothing wrong with my head gaskets and all I needed was spark plugs. I called Honda and spoke to the manager Jennifer and told her what happened and she said she would refund my $250 diagnostic fee if I came in and had them look at the car again. I agreed as long as I could watch the process in person. Jennifer had the lead technician do another diagnostic on my car and it was determined that in fact, there wasn’t anything wrong with my head gaskets. So basically Honda tried to steal $6,800 from me. The only thing Jennifer offered me for loss of work, loss of sleep, anxiety, tow trucks was an apology. I am sure This Honda dealership does this all the time. Scares people and to Paying for services they do not need and or purchasing new vehicles. Please be aware! More
