I don’t know if you’ll ever see this response, but if you do, I would invite you to call me directly at (949) 234-4238 or e-mail me at ncolucci@capovwmazda.com so we can chat about your experience. Since you wrote your review, my Finance Director and I have tried repeatedly to find a record of your transaction here at the store around the time you shared your experience online (late May). We’ve searched our systems for customer transaction records in May based on first name Ryan and last name Ryan. We’ve searched based on credit applications that were declined during that period, we searched for male applicants with challenged credit scores, etc., and we just can’t seem to find any record of your attempt to do business with us. I took some time in responding to your review to be sure we had made every effort to see what we did wrong before reaching out. I would like to have a better understanding of how things transpired, but based on your description we clearly could have done a better job of explaining exactly why we were unable to secure financing for you. As I’m sure you know, as a dealership, we’re just guys and gals who sell cars and like making people happy. We’re not a bank, and as such, we do not have the final say on money lending matters. While we do often work as the intermediary, and help arrange for financing, the decision is ultimately up to the banks. I hope you can appreciate that there’s very little chance anyone on my staff (all commissioned salespeople) would NOT want to sell you a car. We would never put up any roadblocks, or find ways not to earn your business. Most likely, your stated credit score was below the threshold that VW Credit, or any of our alternative lenders can work with, and the salesperson was told to inform you that there was nothing we could do, even with your substantial down payment. While that may have been the scenario, what I would never tolerate is anyone on my staff being rude about the outcome, or making you feel that we didn’t value you as a customer, whether actual or potential. I would very much like an opportunity to speak with you, or to at least get a dialog going via e-mail. It’s important to all of us that we work as hard as we can to diffuse the stereotypical car sales environment and be (as our company vision states) “The Undealer” which means exceeding your expectations and making your car buying experience a positive one. I would like to help you better understand the challenges we face at times when trying to secure financing, and I would like to get some feedback that I would use (in aggregate form, not to single any one person out) for training purposes so I can help my staff improve the way we take care of our customers.
