John Melvin sold me my first brand new car and made me feel very comfortable in switching from a long time Acura fan to a Subaru fan. John was kind and professional without crossing the fine line between being a good salesman and being an extremely push salesman. He was able to answer my many questions without a problem! I was looking for a reliable car that would fit my needs for the typical work week, but also one that would be safe for my outdoor adventures. I would absolutely recommend Cityside Subaru, and specifically John Melvin to any of my friends or family. Thank you for all of your help and I happy to be a part of the Subaru family! More

Everyone in the building was a major help for us with our first new car purchase! MARK LIDANO was extremely helpful, patient (never that pushy salesman-type that we saw at other places) and instantly bo first new car purchase! MARK LIDANO was extremely helpful, patient (never that pushy salesman-type that we saw at other places) and instantly bonded with our family. He kept our 10 month old in his lap (well, on his belly) while we discussed our family's needs. Go sit down and talk with Mark. Look to your left, there's a photo hanging in his cubicle with our daughter in Mark's arms. Mark assisted me with the entire process and I'm confident he'll continue after the sale. How many salesman actually care after a sale?? Very pleased with our Outback and shopping/buying experience! I'm comfortable sending anyone there. P.S. bring a baby or toddler and maybe you'll get a discount! -Betts family brookline, ma More

This review is more of an description of my experience with CitySide rather than a specific review of a car buying experience since we didn't make much progress. Buying a car is a pain. You can research v with CitySide rather than a specific review of a car buying experience since we didn't make much progress. Buying a car is a pain. You can research vehicle costs, dealer costs, trade-in values, and at the end of the day you'll still negotiate with a dealer to find a fair price for a new car. Our approach to buying has always been to focus on the total cost of the car rather than monthly payments. To this end, using the internet sales department for vehicle prices has been very helpful. We've found that it can help us get 95% of the way through the car-buying experience with the final details being negotiated at the dealership. This has been effective at most places and this is how we purchased our Impreza Outback a few years back, albeit at a competing Subaru dealership due to price. We've been proponents of supporting local businesses and we live close to the dealership, so despite the fact that CitySide was a little more expensive during our last car buying experience, we chose to speak with them again for our new car. Everyone we've dealt with at the showroom and the service center has been helpful and pleasant. We were surprised by the response for a quote on a Forester. We were told they could offer us MSRP and if we were able to find a better deal we could bring it back to CitySide, make an offer, and with a 'secured deposit' they would review it with their sales manager. There was no additional input. To be fair, their stated position is that they and other dealers pay the same for the vehicles on the lot. That's something they would know, not I, but considering the varying quotes for the car from other dealers, I'm not sure it's especially relevant. It strikes me as an audacious position to expect to be given the last opportunity to provide a quote, with input from competitors, AND a secured deposit, by virtue of locale and not effort. If CitySide wanted to provide a quote for a vehicle and it was reasonable but there was a bit of a better deal at another dealership an hour away, it would make sense to give them an additional opportunity to re-quote. Having other dealerships go through the effort of pricing cars and then expecting CitySide to have a last opportunity to quote does not. I've heard great things about CitySide, and the ratings on this web-site seem, for the most part, to back that impression up, but I am disappointed in my experience. This is not necessarily a negative review but a description about the perplexing experience with their approach to buying a car. We are still shopping for our next car, it's a shame that it wasn't very productive with CitySide. More
When we first walked in to Cityside Subaru, I felt that no one really wanted to help us with our car buying experience since we were looking at Used vehicles and not New vehicles. Fortunately, Mark was hel no one really wanted to help us with our car buying experience since we were looking at Used vehicles and not New vehicles. Fortunately, Mark was helpful to work with during the actual car buying experience. He was careful to go over the features of the car and we had a very nice, informative test drive. Cityside was able to work with me and my financing needs which were a bit tricky to say the least. There was one little hiccup upon picking up the car but when I was forced to come back a second time, they had filled my tank for the inconvenience. Now on to the negatives, if you buy a car from Cityside, prepare to be bombarded with demands to rate their dealership on this website. Within a week of buying my car, I had received a text message (which I found to be intrusive) and multiple phone calls. Mark kept calling me until I finally called back and said I was happy with the car. If I wasn't happy, they would have heard from me. Then a week after that, I received a "thank you" card with a flyer for this website clearly trying to coax me into writing a review. I'm a very busy person and I didn't have time to sit down and write a review. I didn't feel it was necessary but now I do, just so I can be left alone. Just this past week, I received an email from Mark saying "if I had time" could I write a review. Moments later I got a sales lead email from Cityside about pre-ordering a 2012 Imprezza. What gave the impression that I would need to buy another car? Hopefully this review will suffice and I can avoid further harrassment. I WAS considering taking my Subaru Forester to their Service department but I'm afraid that I'll be haunted by Cityside for the rest of my life and thus, I've decided I'll go elsewhere for my future service needs. I was looking for a new car and had done some comparison I was looking for a new car and had done some comparison shopping online. A couple of friends had said the all-wheel drive made a Subaru a goo I was looking for a new car and had done some comparison shopping online. A couple of friends had said the all-wheel drive made a Subaru a good choice, especially when driving in snow in Massachusetts. When I came to Cityside, Peter Rosenberg showed me the cars that were available and we did a road test which involved merging uphill onto a major highway and driving along a curvy country road. It felt much more solid and held the road better than the Focus and the Civic and the Vibe which I had rented in the past. The whole transaction was very simple and now that I've driven it on an expressway during a torrential rainstorm, I like the car even better than I did when I first bought it. More
