While I did not end up purchasing a vehicle from this dealership for personal reasons, I was very impressed with the level of customer service I received. I spoke with both John and Rob and both were ver dealership for personal reasons, I was very impressed with the level of customer service I received. I spoke with both John and Rob and both were very professional, patient and honest about the offer they gave me. I cannot say enough to praise the dealership for their outstanding service and the refreashing approach to the car buying experience. It was wonderful to have someone as knowledgeable as Peter, the sales outstanding service and the refreashing approach to the car buying experience. It was wonderful to have someone as knowledgeable as Peter, the sales consultant, helping me navigate the variety of options to consider when making such a big purchase. I was extremely impressed with the the facility. I had a pleasant and professional experience at CitySide Subaru. Again, Peter was extremely helpful during the purchase. More
I found Peter Rosenberg extremely knowledgeable and friendly and enjoyed my dealings with him. However, I was extremely disappointed in the trade-in value on my Volvo. friendly and enjoyed my dealings with him. However, I was extremely disappointed in the trade-in value on my Volvo. More
I've come to believe that car dealers are so afraid of the aggresive salesman stereotype that they have swung the pendulum too far the other way toward providing almost no guidance. This was my Subaru buy the aggresive salesman stereotype that they have swung the pendulum too far the other way toward providing almost no guidance. This was my Subaru buying experience with a couple of dealers until we visited City Side and worked with one of their reps, Peter Rosenberg. Peter did two things very well; 1) asked key questions (what have you driven, what was good and bad, what was on my wife's wish list and quickly sized us up as Forester customers when we thought we were Outback customers. And 2) he made the business case for a particular trim and option package by educating us on the full range and then narrowing it down, explaining why we should opt for one compromise over another. There were a couple of minor questions Peter didn't have answers for but wasn't afraid to say "I don't know, I'll find out". It's refreshing to work with a sales person who has humility yet has the self confidence to lead the process, rather than be led. This asking/listening skill might come naturally to someone like Peter but it should be part of every dealer's sales training. Other dealer reps passively let us lead them around without providing any guidance or bothering to find out where we were in the sales cycle, and then continually call and email after we leave. City Side might also benefit from more sales training on the "back office" pricing as we sensed that Peter was almost in forbidden territory on the subject. Don is the floor manager and was a bright, charismatic professional who was easy to work with and trustworthy. But knowing what you're going to be sold by the back office after you close on the car would have given this review an excellent rating instead of a very good rating. I recommend...but I recommend buyers know more about the back end pricing, not pricing couched in a tiny monthly payment over 6 years, but the full price, and by knowing that items such as the paint finish (which we bought) are able to be unbundled from the toxic stain-guard on the interior (which we didn't buy). The stereotype may have been cleansed from the showroom floor but the auto industry would do itself a favor with more transparency in other areas. Otherwise, well done Peter and City Side, you earned our future business. More
I have owned subarus for over 20 years and had them serviced at Acton, Hyannis, Wakefield and Cityside. Cityside has, with question, the best service department of any Subaru Dealer in Greater Boston serviced at Acton, Hyannis, Wakefield and Cityside. Cityside has, with question, the best service department of any Subaru Dealer in Greater Boston. Why? The service reps are smart, polite and professional. The listen to my problem descriptions and capture the info accurately onto the service request form. They explain service options (what's essential, what's optional,etc.). When unexpected problems are found the explain clearly and answer questions patiently. The work is always done right the first time. I have never had to bring my car back for sloppy or incomplete repairs. The dealership has comfortable spaces to work or relax in while my car is being worked on. Cityside has a very good ride system that takes me to Alewife Station if I need to leave the car for the day. Overall, I feel that I really get my money's worth bringing my cars here. Cityside has kept my '03 Outback driving like a new car. More
As our lease was expiring, my wife and I were making a concerted effort to find an automobile to purchase. We visited a variety of dealerships before settling on the Subaru Outback. Not all dealerships ar concerted effort to find an automobile to purchase. We visited a variety of dealerships before settling on the Subaru Outback. Not all dealerships are created equal and Cityside Subaru was not the first Subaru dealership we visited, it was however the last. Given the events in Japan, selection was becoming an issue around New England, however, we found what we were looking for at Cityside and were amicably assisted by Peter Rosenberg. The experience was as stress free as we could have hoped. More
After a test drive at one dealership and researching a lot about pricing of a new Legacy and I knew the difference between MSRP, factory invoice, and dealer invoice. I went to Cityside with a # in mind a lot about pricing of a new Legacy and I knew the difference between MSRP, factory invoice, and dealer invoice. I went to Cityside with a # in mind and with a little room for negotiation. After sales associate took my information he went to "speak with the manager". After coming back he had with him a pricing sheet with MSRP price and Factory invoice price on it (no dealer invoice price to be seen). He said that he could get me my initial offer to which I then countered with if we can get close to my # that he could sell a car today (funny, but true). He went to speak to the manager again and came back to say that he couldn't even get his manger down to the factory invoice. I know that even at factory invoice price they are still making money...I'm not trying to steal a car as I know they are in business to make $$. I thanked him for his time and left. 2-3 weeks later at another dealership I was able to get lower than the factory invoice and I was extremely pleased. More

We thought the salesmen at Cityside Subaru were pretty decent to work with. They weren't too pushy - that is for car salesmen - and allowed my husband and I to come to our own conclusions on model and decent to work with. They weren't too pushy - that is for car salesmen - and allowed my husband and I to come to our own conclusions on model and option packages. When it came to finding a car, they were honest about what would be available to us at other area dealerships that they have a relationship with. They also were honest about the trade in and didn't try to tell us we would get a huge amount of money for our older car before the bottom line pricing on our new car was finalized. More
