Hello Brian, I hope all is well and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. Unfortunately, your offer was below trade-in value and auction wholesale value. When this vehicle was traded-in at our dealership we gave the customer much more than $38,000 for the GMC. After that, we had the truck GMC certified via a 160-point inspection and installed 4 brand new tires, brakes, and other needed maintenance items. I spoke with you prior to leaving and you insisted that you would only pay $38,000 and not a dollar more. Even with the KBB retail value of the truck being $45,900 and our market price being $42,715. At that point, I offered you an increased trade-in allowance. Since your offer was so far from what any dealer could sell a Certified GMC for we did not want to waste your time with a counter offer. Later that day we called you to offer a $500 discount and an increased trade-in allowance after hearing from a wholesale buyer for your Ford Explorer. Copeland Chevrolet uses a 3rd party software program to price our pre-owned vehicles competitively. The days of having thousands of mark-up ended years ago. I am disappointed you feel the way you do and would be happy to offer an additional $500 discount off the internet price and provide the trade-in figure you mentioned in the store. However, we cannot sell our truck for $38,000 because nothing in the market justifies such a sale price nor does our cost. Thank you. Jason / General Manager
