Hello Janet. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I have reviewed your repair with our service personnel and can understand why this is frustrating. I would feel the same way. The fuel pump had definitely failed. It had internal damage that was visible to our technician. However, with electrical components the fuel pump failing can cause other parts in the same system to fail. In this case the pump failing damaged the module. Once we had a working fuel pump installed it was evident that the the electronic module was non-functional. The only way to know this is to replace the known bad part. Certainly, having a large unexpected repair bill is frustrating. Pricing varies from repair shop to repair shop. We use only genuine GM Parts and factory trained technicians. Also, we are RepairPal Certified, which means our prices are verified to be competitive on a regular basis by a independent 3rd-party. http://www.copelandchevrolet.com/RepairPal Our Service Manager contacted your husband last week. We can offer a 10% discount on the repair for the inconvenience. In addition, we would offer your next maintenance service free of charge. Once again, prices vary by dealership and market area. This discount would bring our repair below the cost from the GMC store. We sell parts at GM suggested sale price. I cannot speak to the practices of other stores. Also, labor rates vary shop to shop. All our pricing is consistent and priced off a labor time guide and GM parts pricing. Is this discount and free service a fair solution to the issue?

We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. The diagnoses determined you had a misfire / skip on the #4 cylinder. Once we discovered this we informed you of the least expensive repairs to fix the symptoms. However, due to multiple possible causes we also informed you that it may not correct the issue without repairing both symptoms. After the least expensive repair was conducted the skip was still present. The next step was to remove the right side cylinder head to investigate the skip further. At this point you declined any further repair and said you wanted to trade the vehicle. If you want to proceed further with looking at the truck we would be happy to work with you. Hello Jake, We are very sorry for what happened during your visit. Certainly, we do not want to mislead anybody through the door as that will only waste your time and ours. After further research, it appears that the info provided about your trade-in over the phone was incorrect. The trim level of a vehicle greatly impacts the value of a vehicle. Since your trade was not a Platinum as discussed over the phone then we could not honor the value we provided. Once again we apologize for the inconvenience and have modified our internal policies. Trade-in figures can no longer be provided over the phone and can only be done in-person at the dealership. I hope all is well. If there is anything further we can do then let us know.
