Steve, I am sorry that you felt our customer service was not up to your standards. That is our fault, I apologize. While you may feel that our service advisor is trying to "upsell" you on a particular service, he is in fact recommending a particular service or part that either needs attention soon or immediately. The key word is recommend. I am not sure in your case what was recommended but many times our service advisor will recommend new air or cabin filters. Perhaps tires have worn and need replacing, brake pads are worn, windshield wipers are streaking and need replaced. These are the type of issues among others that we will recommend needing attention. You will always have the final say as to whether or not you choose to have the service. We feel it is our job to keep you up to date on the condition of your vehicle. Mr. Keyes, I am happy that you were able to get your window serviced to your satisfaction. We are a Hyundai / Genesis dealership and as such we have very specific protocols and requirements that we have to follow. While an "independent shop" may be able to install a cable for your window, we have much stricter standards. In order for us to warranty the parts and labor, we replace the entire mechanism and in this case that would involve the motor relay, cable, etc. If one part of the mechanism fails then it is just a matter of time before other parts have a problem.
