I am not sure exactly what was said to you, I tried to remind the service advisor of the circumstances, but he could not remember exactly what was said. I am not sure if your appointment was set up from the start to wait here or drop off, and what it was in for, but I am sorry if he did not seem empathetic to your wanting to wait here. We have been so overly busy here lately and we try to stick to our schedule as much as we can, sometimes we need to make exceptions or changes to it. Typical dealer/service department. Go in for a free recall and walk out with a $2400 estimate for repairs. One of the items on the estimate was supposed to be taken care of before I bought the car. SMH More

William, Hello, I wanted to reach out and explain. When you purchased your vehicle here in August of 2015 and at 42,904 miles, it was completely up to date with everything Honda would have you do to it by that time and mileage 3 years/42k. I closely looked at all the items they recommended to you. The reason they recommended the timing belt, is due to the fact that we have no records of what has been to the vehicle since it left here in 2015, 6 years and 70,000 miles ago. The timing belt is due at 105,000 miles or 7 years, and again we have no records of what has been done to the vehicle over these last 6 years. The valve cover gasket is leaking oil, so we have to tell you that, and the brake pad linings were starting to get low, another safety item we need to let you know about. Our job as car professionals is to advise customers of what problems we might see when having possession of their vehicle, and to advise customers on needed maintenance or repairs, as many people count on us to do so. It is ultimately the customer's decision to address the vehicle's concerns. Imagine if you left that day, and a couple of days later your timing belt snaps and ruins your engine. The first place that would come to mind is the last place you brought it for service. If we didn’t say a word about it being overdue by time and miles, you would question why we didn’t tell you and would probably become a big problem to deal with. A huge part of the reason we check over the entire vehicle for safety when in our possession is liability, we can’t let a vehicle leave unsafe. Not checking over a customer's vehicle and not addressing with them, then letting them leave would be a terrible service to our customers and a liability on us. I hope this explains better why the service advisor advised you on the needed service for your vehicle. Feel free to contact me anytime to address this further if needed. Thanks and please take care.
