They charged my daughter two hours of time to fix a problem that we had identified prior to making our appointment. 1 hour labor charge for diagnostics (same diagnosis as what we told them prior to the problem that we had identified prior to making our appointment. 1 hour labor charge for diagnostics (same diagnosis as what we told them prior to the appointment) and 1 hour for installing an update. Ridiculous amount of time. Took total advantage of the situation. More
Service department did not rotate my tires. My tires had been rotated at 5000 miles and this service took place at approximately 24,000 miles. I was unaware of this until I decided to review all of the serv been rotated at 5000 miles and this service took place at approximately 24,000 miles. I was unaware of this until I decided to review all of the service paperwork later. My cabin air filter was in backwards and the piece that secures the filter was missing. I suppose that some of the service techs are careless. Make sure you check their work and that they rotate the tires. I am having to buy a new set of tires earlier then I would have had to if the tires had been rotated. More
We bought a 2011 Ford Escape with only 60,000 miles from Dave Smith at the beginning of 2020. We started hearing a knocking sound and took it in to their service department to be looked at in May 2021. They Dave Smith at the beginning of 2020. We started hearing a knocking sound and took it in to their service department to be looked at in May 2021. They told us we needed to replace the engine. We got the engine replaced and was quoted $3,000. It took them a month to complete because they dropped the first replacement engine and broke the components and had to get a 2nd replacement engine. They said this 2nd engine was $200 off. When they were finally done, we went to pick up the Escape and the bill was for well over $3,700. When I said something the service writer left and came back a few minutes later with an updated bill of $3,300. That’s fine, but within 2 weeks it started making a rotational grinding noise, so we took it back to Dave Smith. They had it for 3 days and came back to say it was both left hand wheel bearings. We were quoted $1100 for them to repair. After some research, we saw it was almost twice the average cost for that repair. We took it to a local brake shop for the repair and they said the wheel bearings were fine, and to take to a regular shop. We took it to a local mechanic, and they found it was the left transmission bearing was bad, possibly caused by Dave Smith’s engine replacement. They had it confirmed by a transmission shop that was the issue. I should note that both the mechanic shop and the transmission shop stated the wheel bearings were fine. Now we need a new transmission. We have been trying to contact Dave Smith’s Service department to try and get this remedied. We have had our calls ducked and have had multiple voicemails ignored. No accountability. Dealership fails to diagnose the No accountability. Dealership fails to diagnose the transmission problem on my Nissan Sentra on multiple occasions, and then say that they need e No accountability. Dealership fails to diagnose the transmission problem on my Nissan Sentra on multiple occasions, and then say that they need evidence?! There's a tow bill and repair bill to prove that. It's really difficult to have evidence of a transmission going out when there is no code for it! Add to the fact that it was under warranty (Yeah, they did not disclose that)! I had to find out the hard way. I find it hard to believe that they had "no knowledge" of the issues that pertain to Nissan Sentra transmissions. It took an independent mechanic, an $1100.00 tow bill, and another $3500.00 to fix it. Something that could have all been prevented if there had been a little more proactive investigation and transparency about CVT transmissions. Now, Dave Smith Nissan holds NO responsibility, hands off. It is a corporate issue they say, except corporate says that the dealership needs to investigate and authorize transmission work in order for there to be reimbursement. Well, it's difficult to do that when there was no problem, according to the techs who work at Dave Smith! I had to have an independent mechanic tell me there is no code for transmission going out. But the independent mechanic still knew that the car would need a new tranny! And the result: A break down, no reimbursement for the $3500.00 transmission replacement, an expensive tow bill, and the phrase, "Oh, I'm sorry. There's nothing we can do." That comes from both parties, Nissan corporate and Dave Smith Nissan! Frustrating to say the least! More
I'll probably never know for sure why this happened. I'm really disappointed in Nissan as a whole. Reason, many times I brought my Sentra into Dave Smith Nissan with the concern of an RPM surge. Many times really disappointed in Nissan as a whole. Reason, many times I brought my Sentra into Dave Smith Nissan with the concern of an RPM surge. Many times they said it was nothing (not running any codes). Okay, the surge does not go away. In fact, the last time I had it there I was specifically told nothing was wrong with the transmission. Then, not satisfied, I take the vehicle to an independent mechanic who not only tells me that my transmission is going out but that there is no code for the transmission. Yeah, mechanic plugged it in and got no code. But still knew that the transmission was going out! Fast forward, I go on a trip and the surge not only gets worse, but the transmission goes out 3 1/2 hours away from my home. An $1100.00 dollar tow bill back to the mechanic who diagnosed the problem. A problem that my dealership denied was an issue on previous visits, and then another $3,564.00 bill to get a new transmission put in the Sentra. Only to find out that it still qualified for a warranty because it was under 84k miles. However, Nissan North America tells me that my dealership needs to do the transmission swap. Dave Smith claims they need verification and evidence of the transmission going out. They said it needs to run a code to provide evidence. There is no code for that as I found out the hard way. Nobody ever told me that the transmission warranty was still good on the vehicle until I did some digging of my own after the fact. I'm really disappointed. More
This is an updated review. There were some issues initially. However, dealership management reached out to me and we are working to resolve them. My vehicle does need some warranty items repaired, and Dave Smith Nissan is currently working with me to get that taken care of. After the initial hassle and frustration, they have been excellent about reaching out to me and trying to make things right. My initial rating was very low. Their desire to work things out and make things right is impressive! We all have missteps sometimes, but how we respond to them is where we learn about the character of a person or business. These guys have responded very well to me! More
