This is my 3rd Daytona Toyota experience (2 vehicles). Each time I have had a scheduled appointment for an oil change which always seemed to take a minimum of 75+ minutes. I did brag about Toyota for the first couple of years from when I got my car in 2016. I noticed that I was treated differently after the first couple of times from going there. I assumed because the car was purchased outright with no payments. The car wash and vacuuming after my 6 month check up seemed to get half assed done. Then one of the times the guy charged me when I was told it would always be complimentary everytime I got my car serviced. I watched him put the money in his pocket. I even asked if I should pay inside although I'd never been charged before. He said no and that he will take it in as I was leaving. I heard since then that the guy was not supposed to charge me. Then I had an appointment at Toyota recently that someone forgot to put in the computer. After going there and waiting in line at the service department, I had to reschedule because they couldn't find where I was supposed to have the appointment. I've gone back since then to get my oil changed and tires rotated. I was given a one time car wash voucher to use another time because the car wash wasn't working supposedly. I don't know who to trust there now. I have a new guy in the service department now. Hopefully things will get better. More
During the first week in September, My wife and I During the first week in September, My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary by driving from our home in Tennessee, to Ormond Beach, FL, for a week During the first week in September, My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary by driving from our home in Tennessee, to Ormond Beach, FL, for a week of vacation on the beautiful beaches of Florida’s Atlantic Coast. On Wednesday, Sep. 2nd, while on our way to St. Augustine I noticed the "Check Engine” and “Trac” lights were on in my 2014 Toyota Sienna. I Immediately pulled over in a safe area in Flagler Beach and called the service manager of my Toyota dealer at my home.. After a brief discussion with the Asst. Service Manager there, it was recommended that I take the Sienna to a Toyota Service Center to have it checked out. I turned around and promptly headed to Daytona Toyota. I pulled into the busy service line there and was greeted by one of the employees who asked if I had an appointment. I admitted that I didn’t, but explained my plight to the Service Manager on duty that day. Fortunately, he understood my situation and quickly introduced me to Service Advisor Andrew Mofield. Andrew explained that he could get a diagnostic check done on my Sienna while I waited in the very comfortable waiting room. In less time that I would have expected, Andrew Mofield advised me that the diagnostic had indicated that a valve on the back of the engine would have to be replaced. This was an Issue I hadn’t had before so he took me in to see my van and the mechanic that would do the work. They briefed me that the engine would need to cool for a couple or hours, but could be repaired and ready that afternoon. I was comfortable with that and gratefully authorized the repair. Andrew then took me to check out a loaner vehicle so my wife and I could get back to our vacation. By mid afternoon that day I got a call from Andrew that the work was done and my Sienna was ready. I returned to Daytona Toyota, checked the free loaner car back in, and picked up my repaired Sienna in with much less time than I expected. I was also informed that the cost of the diagnostic test was eliminated since the indicated repair was done, and was allowed a Veteran’s Discount as well. In summary: Instead of being treated like a tourist in a jam, I was treated with respect and courtesy. The understanding Service Manager quickly assigned me to Andrew Mofield. Andrew took care of my wife and I as if we were VIPs or members of his family. From the experienced mechanic, the attentive lady at the loaner car and payment window, to the nice young man that escorted me to where my repaired car was parked, I couldn’t have asked for better customer service. Last year, 2019, we had the pleasure of purchasing a used car from this non-local dealership. It was perhaps the fastest and most productive transaction we have ever made and I bragged to others about it. car from this non-local dealership. Because of lockdown, I made a decision to have my car serviced locally until yesterday, when I wanted to address several issues that fell under the Certified Car warranty. I am 71 years old and another friend who is of equal age drove over an hour and a half to the dealership where we had a pleasant check-in with Andrew until...we were asked if we had a mask. We live in a tri-county area where masks are not required. We don't even OWN masks plus we both have health issues that prevent us from wearing them. We were then ushered to a hot, sunny spot under an overhang with two totally inefficient fans toiled away in 95F heat and sweltering humidity where we were forced to endure a one hour wait. Because of this lack of respect for myself and my friend, I will not return either for service or for future car purchases. Their policy has cost them far more than sales and service...it cost them a great deal of good will as I tell my friends about this insane treatment of the elderly. Plus they did not correct the issue I brought the van in for service. More
