I knew what I wanted to purchase, and they went the extra mile to get me the car I wanted, and the deal I wanted. Michael was very patient when reviewing the car's features when I picked it up. He has graciously offered to help me if I need further explanation in the future. Many Thanks! More
Just Purchased a 2011 Forester Jimmy at East Hills was very knowledgeable and comforting at a time that had the potential to be stressful - buying a new car is never easy and dealer Jimmy at East Hills was very knowledgeable and comforting at a time that had the potential to be stressful - buying a new car is never easy and dealerships can sometimes make this worse. Jimmy gave me honest advice, though, told me what my options were, and was a professional gentleman the entire time. Exceptional service, will definitely be recommending to friends and family. Thank you! More
Friendly Staff, Love them! I did not expect East Hills Subaru to be the exception . I always had a negative view on dealers and how they are always trying to get as much money from you as possible but I did not have that problem here. The last dealer I went to, I left a deposit on a vehicle, agreed on a price and when I went to pick up the car, they added a prep fee. They wouldn't give my deposit back until I threaten them with legal action. I honestly did not expect Sean to be any different than the last salesperson but I was wrong. He did not avoid the question or try to change the topic when I asked him about any fees. The showroom is not that great looking but the courtesy of the staff sure made up for that. I was told they are planning to renovate the building during the fall. Can't wait to see how it will turn out! I recommend this dealer to anyone looking for a dealer who will get down to the point and not play games. More
A STEP ABOVE THE REST As a consumer, I use the internet often and lets be honest, We all want the best deal. I called many dealers looking for the car I wanted and they all As a consumer, I use the internet often and lets be honest, We all want the best deal. I called many dealers looking for the car I wanted and they all promised me a vehicle if I went down to see them. I stopped by about 2 dealers and when I arrived they did not have the car but they insisted on working out a deal. I almost gave up until I got a call from Sean promising me that he will have the car for me when I get there. To my surprised the car was really there! As I said before, I called many dealers and already had a number in mind but after speaking with Sean, I felt very comfortable working with him. I paid more than I initially planned but it was well worth it.They took very good care of me and I know when I come back for my service or next vehicle they will continue to take care of me. Thank you East Hills Subaru for making it a fast and easy experience. Sincerely, A Satisfied East Hills Subaru Customer. More
THE OLE' BAIT AND SWITCH! ***UPDATE*** I've been shopping for a 2015 BASE MODEL WRX and saw that EAST HILLS SUBARU had one listed in their inventory and it was marked "In Transit". I calle I've been shopping for a 2015 BASE MODEL WRX and saw that EAST HILLS SUBARU had one listed in their inventory and it was marked "In Transit". I called the dealership and spoke with salesman Michael Polans, who told me that they actually had that vehicle I was inquiring about on the lot. So I asked for lease numbers and Michael Polans gave me a quote, and I countered with a fair number. He took some time, called me back and said he could make my offer work but there was one thing (wait for it) he "screwed up"; the WRX we had been discussing was not a BASE MODEL (as listed on their website) but a LIMITED MODEL. Michael Polans assured me that because it was his "screw up" he would make the numbers work. Now, having purchased/leased 8 vehicles in my life, I absolutely should've known better; this deal was too good to be true. But I guess I just didn't believe, in this day and age, that a salesman would be so bold as to agree to terms - then acknowledge his mistake over the phone and stick to the agreed numbers knowing he was going to attempt the old "bait and switch" when I arrived on the lot. One smart decision I made was to not give him a down payment over the phone as I wanted to get eyes on the vehicle first. And by the way, you should never, ever, give a salesman a down payment over the phone to "hold the vehicle" without having seen it; take your chances, if someone buys it before you make it into the dealership, you'll find another car at another dealership. Have you ever seen that movie "Glengarry Glen Ross"? If not, look it up. That was the scene when I arrived the next day at the dealership, having left work early in the mid-afternoon, trekking from NJ, just so I could take delivery as promised. And fyi - Michael Polans knew I was traveling from NJ, leaving work early so we could close the deal, allowing me to drive away the same day. My intentions, no doubt, gave him confidence that he'd hook me regardless of price. So I arrive at our agreed time of 2pm and Michael Polans is busy with another couple, appears to be overwhelmed and asks a sales manager for help. I actually offer to come back since I don't live far, but Michael insists I stay as he doesn't want me to "lose the car" and he reschedules with the other couple. We go see the car, he offers me a test drive and I decline(I've driven it and have been a previous Subaru owner) but I do sit in the car with Michael Polans and he points out all the upgrades in the LIMITED MODEL I was not shopping for; leather, moon-roof, upgraded stereo, GPS. Why the hard sell now on a car I've already agreed to lease at specific numbers he said he'd make work? Because he knew what was coming; the bait and switch. We go inside to start paperwork and as soon as I sit down (wait for it) Michael Polans then suddenly repeats his mantra from the previous night's phone call; "I screwed up, I screwed up" he mutters. "Yes, I know, it's a LIMITED MODEL, you told me that last night and said you could stick to the numbers we agreed to" I replied. He tells me he was mistaken and (of course) he couldn't possibly agree to numbers that were targeted for a BASE model. Michael Polans tells me the lease payment for the LIMITED model is now $47.00 more a month than the number we agreed on! Yes, I absolutely should've anticipated this bait and switch. Why didn't Michael Polans know the numbers wouldn't work when we spoke on the phone?? Of course he knew, but he didn't want to let a potential sale walk away and thought his best chance was to get me in the car, I fall in love and accept the bait and switch. But I didn't. And Michael Polans didn't even attempt to present a competitive offer to make up for his "screw up". Why not be honest on the phone in the first place? After he acknowledged his "screw up" he should've been straight and said he couldn't make the deal on our agreed to BASE MODEL numbers - but give me a good fair quote for the LIMITED MODEL. I might've given it some consideration, Michael Polans might've had a chance at a sale being honest. But his acting was so poor - the bait and switch so transparent. So for any other potential buyers reading this, always remember to never fall in love with a car and always be willing to walk away; there are other dealers, other car salesmen, some of which are actually fair and trustworthy. Just not at this dealership. Disappointed Subaru Customer. -C. McLaughlin ***UPDATE*** JUNE 2nd, 2014 So after I posted the review above, Richard Cirami, General Sales Manager at East Hills Subaru called me and left a message wanting more clarity about my experience. I didn't initially return his call, thinking I'd just move on and shop around at other dealerships. But Richard was persistent, called me a second time and politely asked me to call him back to give him a chance to possibly make up for my initial experience. I called him - and we had a very frank and honest conversation. What struck me about Richard was his direct, down-to-earth nature and the fact that he didn't attempt to make any excuses for his salesman's error. He acknowledged the mistake, said he'd had a conversation with the salesman and agreed that he should've just been honest about his initial mistake instead of trying to keep me in a deal he couldn't deliver. Richard asked if I was still interested in the WRX LIMITED MODEL and if I'd allow him to make me a competitive offer. I was a little reluctant at first, having already decided to move on, but thought getting a quote couldn't hurt. Richard called me back about twenty minutes later with a really competitive offer that turned out to be a great deal. I met with Richard in person to confirm the numbers; he was friendly, conciliatory and sincere. Instead of just letting me walk away, Richard made a concerted effort to present an incredibly fair deal that would make me happy. I give Richard a lot of credit and certainly being able to post my experience on Dealer Rater got his attention and helped turn this negative experience into a positive. Today I took delivery of a 2015 WRX LIMITED - the car is AMAZING - and I'm thrilled Richard Cirami helped make it happen! Pleasantly surprised and happy Subaru customer. -C. McLaughlin More
A pleasant experience that is worth writing about! Last Sunday i set out on a fact finding mission to purchase a vehicle for my son who just graduated from Medical school. One of the vehicles for cons Last Sunday i set out on a fact finding mission to purchase a vehicle for my son who just graduated from Medical school. One of the vehicles for consideration was the new WRX from Subaru. It was 10am and I had not realized the dealership opened at 11am. As I was about to leave a gentleman walked up to me with 12 huge balloons in hand and with a warm smile said your wife called these Are for you. So we just laughed and he said give me a minute I will be right back. In a few minutes he walked up to me offered a handshake and said I am Richard Cirami the general sales manager. Ho about a great cup of coffee and a fresh bagel. Of course who could resist a fresh bagel. So he made two cups of coffee and we buttered up a few bagels and he invited me to sit at a desk fire away whatever questions I had. I told him we are considering 4 different cars and the WRX was the last choice as we are a BMW family. He just smiled and in the next hour explained each vehicle I was considering and how it faired against the WRX. Well I am a surgeon! My world is based on hard facts. He was as diligent and I coined him, The Car Doc! His knowledge of the industry and the competitive cars was outstanding. He had recently left BMW and never undermined the product though he knew why the WRX was a better car and in that fact finding mission I soon came to understand his vision. As the WRX was not in yet, we set an appointment for this coming weekend when my son would be home to finalize a purchase. I asked for a brochure and he said I have a better idea for you to get this to your son. Come with me to the Subaru info center. In a matter of minutes he fired off a digital brochure and showed me the most incredible large screen TV that housed the world of information on a Subaru. This was a great experience! He showed me the car in full view, comparison vehicles, interior and exterior color combinations and options as well. It just made the whole buying experience wonderful. Richard Cirami thank you! I just purchased a Bentley last week and looking back it was a horrible experience in comparison to your knowledge and friendliness. Dr. John Spencer More

Sales Manager Ignored Me/Incompetent This is a copy of an email I sent to the Sales Mgr at East Hills. Of course, no reply. Dennis: I stopped in the other day to buy a new Subaru This is a copy of an email I sent to the Sales Mgr at East Hills. Of course, no reply. Dennis: I stopped in the other day to buy a new Subaru. However, I just bought the car at another dealer in the area because of your rudeness, incompetence and lack of service. I was a previous customer at Port Subaru and took my current Subaru there pretty consistently for service. First, you directed me to a young sales associate. He couldn't answer most of my questions (none of which were complex or difficult). Then, you started to work up the prices for 3 cars that I had identified and printed out all of the specifications. You gave me two of them back and promised the third via email the next day. It never showed up. Then, you left me alone for about 20 minutes while you were sitting with another sales associate or a customer. When I asked, you said you were leaving and had a doctor's appointment. The car that I ultimately purchased was identical to the specs that I gave to you and that you priced, however, it was less expensive at the other dealer. There is a axiom in marketing that one dissatisfied customer will tell 9 others about his or her experience. I intend to do just that. More
