The other day I contacted Ed Martin, Acura. I asked to speak with the finance person. I was transferred to Matt Douglas. He answers his phone via his speaker on his phone. I asked him if he had me on speaker and he replied, yes. I found that impersonal. As I begin why I called and wanted to speak with him he rudely interrupted me. He did not allow me to complete my sentence. My next question was regrading Acura finance promotion. He did not allow me to complete that question. Being put off by his lack of professionalism I decided to end our call. The issue that I have is that Matt Douglas is not a "team player, he lacks professionalism and excellent communication skills. The goal of Ed Martin Acura is to sell, service vehicles, and parts. For me that all means excellent service and great communication. Matt Douglas failed to live up to professionalism because at no point did, he introduce himself over the phone. Nor did he try to engage me as a customer or buyer. He did not offer to connect me with a salesperson or to find out what my needs are. His communication and critical thinking skills are severely lacking which demonstrates that, "He is not a team player." Everyone knows that when you are finished making a deal with the salesperson/sales manager they have written up your purchase agreement/sales contract that you go to the finance person to close the deal. The finance person's role is to upsell you on additional adds that may or not been discussed with the salesperson or sales manager whichever one. Another thing that finances person job is to offer you financing because this is another way for the dealership to make money. Unless you come in with your own and even then, they will still try and offer you one of their lenders. In many cases when you finance through the dealership the dealership will get at least a 2% kick back on your finance from the lender who they are suggesting to you. I was interested in the current Acura finance promotion which is why I contacted Matt Douglas prior to going to the showroom. I was working on my budget for the vehicle I had in mind. It is true vehicles are expensive to buy and maintain. Acura is a high-quality luxury brand which we have been loyal owner for over 25 years now. We have purchased an Acura from Ed Martin in the past and we were happy with our purchase and service. In the past we felt listened to and respected. However, because we have high standards and expectations in general, we expect the same when it comes to buying a vehicle. People like to feel good with people who they do business with. Based upon the inferior interaction with Matt Douglas we could not consciencely want to work with him if we able to come to an agreement on purchasing a new vehicle. We believe all moving parts are very important especially when it comes to buying a vehicle. Therefore, I cannot stress enough how Matt Douglas poor communication skills and lack of professionalism impacted our decision to not wanting to consider buying a vehicle from Ed Martin again. If he is to remain as Ed Martin finance person, I strongly suggest that he is required to take, "Best practices and professional communication training. I believe the owners of Ed Martin Acura dealership, Kathy and Mark must know that they have an inferior person representing their brand. I believe Ed Martin service team is great. Connie is professional and overall, Ed Martin is a brand to be trusted. I pray that by sharing this information that consumers do you feel that you must receive inferior service from someone who does not offer 5-star service from the beginning. I pray that Jason the general manager of Ed Martin takes my review seriously and address the issues I outlined here with Matt Douglas and make positive changes to keep the motto..."Ed Martin is the only name you need to know," true. More

In searching the internet, I found a super-nice vehicle competitively priced, so I contacted the dealership to obtain further information and details. I was fortunate enough to be connected with sales rep Sam Schmutte! This young man quickly demonstrated what a real go-getter he was, providing me all the details about the vehicle, photos and videos I was interested in acquiring. On 6/24/25 my wife and I drove 2 hours to Ed Martin's Acura dealership to meet Sam and to inspect and test drive the vehicle. All of the documentation that Sam had provided in advance was super helpful and greatly reduced the time needed for review. The vehicle was in immaculate condition and there weren't any unexpected surprises. Sam was courteous, super friendly, honest, knowledgeable and very professional. He was very thorough and explained/demonstrated most of the technical features that seemed overwhelming to us. Our entire experience in dealing with Sam Schmutte, Matt, and other staff at Ed Martin Acura was fantastic.
