The deceptive pricing and disrespectful behavior of the management at Edison Nissan negated the efforts of our salesperson Jarell (who himself was professional, friendly, and helpful). Unfortunately, ther management at Edison Nissan negated the efforts of our salesperson Jarell (who himself was professional, friendly, and helpful). Unfortunately, there was not much any salesperson could have done to compensate for the deliberately misleading and predatory pricing that seems to be commonplace here. While aggressive upsells are always an annoyance, they are a reasonable expectation when negotiating a vehicle purchase. What is unreasonable, however, are the absurd and misrepresented fees added to the offered price. $1,995 for "pre-sales inspection" and $2,000 for "Previous Loyalty Rebate" were two of the additional charges, the sum of which totaled $9,960 (that's 49.8% of the advertised price of the vehicle)! I'm not sure how anyone can justify adding pre-sales inspection as an additional expense to an advertised price. As for the equally ambiguous "Loyalty Rebate", it was revealed that this fee is added for any customers that have not purchased a vehicle from Edison Nissan in the previous 36 months. It feels laughable to have to state it, but a "rebate" is an amount that should be deducted from an advertised price for those who qualify, not a punitive addition imposed on customers that do not meet criteria that is NEVER mentioned in their online ads! I understand pricing is always creative with pre-owned vehicles, but for a price to increase by 50% from the lot to the sales desk is unreasonable and unethical. As if to emphasize the realization that I would NOT be buying from this establishment, the obligatory manager visit was aggressive, insulting, and entirely unprofessional. My wife and I were asked if we "bothered reading" the advertised terms, and if we "even realized that you don't pay exactly what's on the window". And in case anyone's wondering, the answer to both inquiries are "yes"... the dealer disclaimer (that begins with "Price includes all costs to be paid by consumer, except for licensing costs, registration fees, and taxes...") was closely examined before, during, and after we visited the dealership. Similarly, I am almost 50 years old and very well may have purchased my first car before this "manager" was out of grade school - I understand there are fees beyond the sticker price and tax, but certainly have never seen closing fees that are literally half of the vehicle's advertised price. After explaining that we had driven an hour from Philadelphia after speaking with a dealer rep and confirming the car's availability and advertised price, he scoffed and rudely responded "that doesn't mean anything - it's more like 40 minutes anyway". That was all I needed to confirm that I would never consider working with this dealership. I only regret having wasted the hours of traveling/shopping/test driving (and the time of the truly friendly salesperson) before the bait-and-switch pricing became apparent. The entire trip was nothing short of a complete waste of time. More
