Was it bait & switch? Written quote confirmed 3X a mistake? 1) Emailed local Subaru dealers with exact car i was looking for. 2) Received 5 quotes: 3 similar, 1 quite a bit more, 1 quite a bit less. 3) Confir 1) Emailed local Subaru dealers with exact car i was looking for. 2) Received 5 quotes: 3 similar, 1 quite a bit more, 1 quite a bit less. 3) Confirmed lowest quote was right--Elk Grove Subaru, and she said it was. 4) Even told her that after a hard year, this deal felt like a "gift." Still confirmed. 5) They brought the car over from their "sister" dealership (exact same VIN as the MSRP sent with their quote--so it was the same car). 6) I test drove it and went in to write the check, finish paperwork. 7) When internet salesperson pulled out paperwork, the amount they had quoted was written at the bottom, so I told son he could leave, it looked like everything was ready to go through. 8) After son leaves (30 mile drive home), salesperson "discovers" quote was wrong--a mistake, a typo. 9) A typo confirmed 3 times via email? Wanted to charge me $4000 more. They seemed to think I should have known the quote was too low. I told them I didn't know THEIR business and I'd recently heard a report on NPR discussing the practice of high-volume stores selling inventory below their cost so they would receive high-volume incentives worth much more. After confirming the price 3 times, I thought perhaps this was why it was low. So, bottom line, can't trust them to stand by their word. Either incompetence or a scam. Whichever it is, not a dealership I would ever trust now. Beware. I have every bit of the paperwork to verify this "scam(?)" More

Although we wanted to deal locally, our experience with the manager at the Napa Subaru was incredibly bad. So, we drove to Elk Grove, where friends of ours had recommended, and dealt with Mike Carlson. We were given really great, friendly & professional service, along with a better deal than we were offered in Napa. No pressure, no wheelin' dealin' just an honest offer. We drove up in the afternoon (unfortunately, we chose a Friday of a holiday weekend, so the drive was exhausting) and we had the deal done that night. In retrospect, I wish we were not so exhausted, and not wanting to get on the road back to Napa, so that we could've given more careful thought to the service warranty and various upgrades. However, that was our fault, and there was no pressure to buy. I'm sure we'll be happy with our decisions. We highly recommend Elk Grove Subaru! AND I think we are going to LOVE this Outback! More

Used non-Subaru car I bought a used non-Subaru. The car salesman kept saying the car had new tires and I see the outside of them and it looks ok . Later I found out that I bought a used non-Subaru. The car salesman kept saying the car had new tires and I see the outside of them and it looks ok . Later I found out that the insides of the tire are 4/32 and almost ready to get new ones. They are just tires and I'm not going to not buy a car because of tires. I dealt with the typical car salesman stuff but I didn't care for straight out lying. It makes you think about other things they lie about. My mechanic looked over some of the repairs that Subaru made and found the brakes weren't properly lubricated and the boot to keep out the elements did the opposite. Luckily I have a good mechanic and it's a reliable car. Typical car salesman selling,lying, and poor mechanics show lack of caring for the customer. More
