I received an email back from James immediately after visiting website. He offered his assistance and ultimately scheduled an appointment with me according to my schedule. He was polite, courteous and a pleasure to speak with. When my wife and I arrived, James greeted us by name and introduced us to Richard. Richard understood what we were looking to accomplish and offered a few options of vehicles. We negotiated with Richard and Ben and the final price was outside of our budget. We left and I visited a few other dealers to understand our options. James called me back to try to put a deal together and I explained we could move up a bit if they could come down a bit. Richard called us back and the deal was made. We met with Vinny in financing and he made us feel welcomed and relaxed with financing. Bev put all the paperwork together and the following day we drove away in our new Town & Country. I have purchased many vehicles and am sure I am not the easiest buyer but the Team at Elmwood made the deal happen in a professional, fun, courteous and polite manner and we ended up with a better vehicle then we originally were looking for and a fair price. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I will consider buying there again. I also look forward to having the vehicle serviced at Elmwood and hope that experience is similar. We couldn't have expected a better overall car buying experience and the Elmwood Team should be proud of a job well done. More
I was referred to the dealership by a friend. After being unemployed for over 15 months I knew my credit was poor. I went in and was very up front about it before I got to the desk with Al. I test drove a new Jeep Liberty and then when I was in the showroom I fell in love with the one they had on the floor. It was a 2012, used with 1194 miles on it but completely loaded. I decided that was the one I wanted. Once we went into the office we ran my credit and it came back approved. It was written up and I gave a deposit on June 26th. While the loan was approved, I was not able to take delivery until July 6 as they told me they were waiting for approval. I provided the documentation they requested. They told my fiend that the bank wanted to charge them points to buy the loan etc and they were trying to back out of selling me the Jeep I selected as they said they were making no money on it. Well push and shove ultimately it was final. When I went in to sign the final paperwork they all of a sudden added Lojack to my contract and never discussed it with me. I felt that it was now being rammed down mt throat. Had they told me that to get this deal to fly they needed to add it then it would have been my choice. I wanted the vehicle and I needed one since mine was totaled. I was happy as my payments were now over $200 less per month and I loved the Jeep. I picked up the Jeep on July 6th and they put a temp plate on with a date of July 26th as they needed to transfer my registration. On July 19th they went to the registry and I owed property tax. I went to dealership and picked up the paperwork on Friday the 20th and went to pay my taxes on Tuesday. I tried to register it and the line was too long so I asked Al if they could register it. I brought the paperwork back and they went to the registry and took care of it. I went in to pick up my paperwork and when I was driving away I looked at the paperwork and the registry charged $215 in penalties and interest for registering the vehicle late. Elmwood had on all their paperwork that the vehicle was sold to me on June 26th so it should have been registered by June 17th! When I brought this up to Al, rather than looking into it of course it is the customers fault for no paying my city taxes so they could not register it on time. No Al, you were so wrong, Elmwood communicated very poorly on this entire sales process. Had there been clear communication and proper paperwork then: #1 I would have been told about the Lojack BEFORE you added it to my contract; #2 As stated in my contract I would have had 45 days to make my first payment not 35 days and #3 there would not have been a penalty or interest had Elmwood done their job correctly and prepared the paperwork appropriately if it wasn't "Sold" to me on the 26th as the paperwork was dated. I wasn't told that it was officially approved until July 6th. I feel that there was a complete lack of communication and that made it appear that you live up to the reputation that car dealers have...unscrupulous! Next time communicate. Oh, and this was not all Al's fault, I fault him for communication but Vinny the finance manager was also involved. Just a negative buying experience. I have already taken the "Elmwood" off my Jeep as I will not be advertising for them. More
