A great deal on a new car...but We bought a new Equinox and feel like we got a fair deal on the trade and incentives. That said, the process to close the deal including completing t We bought a new Equinox and feel like we got a fair deal on the trade and incentives. That said, the process to close the deal including completing the paperwork was very burdensome. First of all, it was a cash sale – no financing involved. Some of the paperwork we had to complete included references to credit application or lease. I felt uncomfortable and told the paperwork person so, and he agreed to void those forms. But it was rather humiliating to be treated like we were potential criminals who would not get insurance on our cash-purchased vehicle (the dealer has no stake in the vehicle after we walk out the door as they would with a lease or financed sale). So, the dealer should consider revising their process, thereby eliminating some paperwork and the need for the processor to have to void unnecessary forms. It was also a clunky process to get to the final deal. Our salesman was fantastic, but he had to bring in the floor manager to try to convince me the first couple of deals discussed were good ones. Is this normal procedure (good cop/bad cop) or is the salesman not empowered to make decisions? And what happened in the showroom with regards to the deal evidently was not completely discussed with the paperwork person, who was in another building. We were at the dealer for almost 6 ½ hours total (with time out for lunch). Part of this was our asking questions and then having to decide what to pursue in terms of a vehicle, but the larger part was the clunky dealership process. Lastly, the vehicle was delivered with only 2 of the 4 license plate bolts, and the rear cargo mat, part of the $200.00 dealer-installed interior protection package, was not in the vehicle when we picked it up. Hopefully, both of these issues will be resolved quickly. The salesman was great, accommodating our discussions about color and option choices, and did work to help us get a decent deal. Overall rating is 4 out of 5 stars. More
