PSA SERVICE SCAMMING Senior Citizens! !!! My dad came here to service his 2005 Lexus GX 470 for a traction control light error and 3 windows malfunctions except driver's window. The servic !!! My dad came here to service his 2005 Lexus GX 470 for a traction control light error and 3 windows malfunctions except driver's window. The service advisor (Paul Barwick) claimed that typical traction control sensor error is normally caused by a faulty or incompatible "gas cap". Paul told my dad that the gas cap was incompatible and needed to be replaced to fix the traction control sensor error. The car needed to be left overnight to diagnosed and initialize the four windows malfunctions. When my dad told me the service cost was over $ 600.00, I was curious and reviewed his receipt. I was shocked to learned that he was charged an additional $ 200.00 for checking tire pressure and adding air on all four tires and spare!!!! I checked a couple of parts website and eBay to check the cost of a gas cap for his Lexus and the range is between $10-30. The dealership charged him the gas cap $39 and a $300 to replaced and perform an evaporation system check. In fairness, I know a typical service technician's labor may probably cost $100 per hour but I don't believe it actually took 3 hrs. for a good tech to replace the gas gap and check for leaks and I believe a $300 diagnostic charge is an outrageous scam!!! My dad is very old, genuinely kindhearted and truly believes that there are good people out there. He admits that his takeaway from this bad experience is to review his receipt. I shared with him in the Army I was trained to "trust but verify". I hope that Senior Citizens taking their vehicle for service here would be aware avoid frivolous charges by service department at this dealership. More
