Extremely Satisfied Using the CR Car Buying Process! I leased a 2016 Hyundai July 2015 through Gerald Hyundai. For the first time, I used the Consumer Reports Car Buying On-line Car Buying Process, and I leased a 2016 Hyundai July 2015 through Gerald Hyundai. For the first time, I used the Consumer Reports Car Buying On-line Car Buying Process, and leasing my 2016 Hyundai Elantra went really smooth. I have always used Consumer Reports as a reference in the past, but now having this formal process in place really does take the guess-work out of the negotiations. Brenden Hurd was the sales-person I worked with from Gerald Hyundai, and he was able to give me the best price, in writing, compared to other Hyundai Dealers in the area. I felt like I was treated very fairly, got a great car, at a great price. Also, Dan Mason walked me through the documents required to be signed. Due to me being unavoidably late to purchase the car, Dan stayed well past 10pm, going through the documents with me. This was the first car I had leased, and I felt comfortable asking Dan questions, even though I caused us to be there very late that night. I'd definitely recommend both Brenden and Dan to friends and colleagues. Thank you for taking most/all of the guess work out of the negotiation process! Rob Wilkinson More

High pressure old school sales tactics I'm not sure I understand all the glowing reviews for this place. I bought my Sonata from them 2 years ago, and came in looking to upgrade to a Santa I'm not sure I understand all the glowing reviews for this place. I bought my Sonata from them 2 years ago, and came in looking to upgrade to a Santa Fe. 3 hours later I left extremely frustrated, exhausted, and swore I'd never go back. I went through TrueCar to get the "best" price. You should know they treat TrueCar shoppers as second class citizens. My salesman said "it's like a swear word around here". Sure, they'll "honor" the quote, but then just make up the profit with your trade-in or financing. My salesman Brian tried to tell me that TrueCar doesn't include wheel locks, floor mats, etc. which is, of course, a bunch of BS. In any event, we went through the whole "let me speak to my manager" haggling fiasco. What a nightmare. He tried to get me to tell him what I wanted my monthly payment to be. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS - they will do whatever it takes to get you to that payment, while padding their pockets with every transaction. They literally came at me with an offer to finance my new car over 84 months. That's right, 7 years. SEVEN YEARS. To pay off a car. Ridiculous. My salesman was totally unaware of the Hyundai incentives, including 0.9% financing for 60 months and all the cash incentives. How do you work for a Hyundai dealer and not know what the current incentives are? He then tried to act like they were doing me a favor by giving them to me, as if it's coming out of their pocket. Mike Chino, the sales manager, is a wheeler and dealer. He acts like your best friend but will do whatever it takes to make the sale. It's a very high pressure, old school environment. Never, in the entire 3 hours I was there, did he offer the 0.9% Hyundai financing despite my 800 credit score. He first offered me a 2.99% APR, of course to make more money. I rejected it, and he said I was twisting his arm to get 1.54% APR, even though "you've got excellent credit". Well, if I have excellent credit, where's the 0.9% Hyundai financing I should be offered? Oh wait, you won't make as much money with that APR. I get it. They ultimately "honored" the TrueCar price, but then took off the profit they lost from the new car and deducted it from my trade-in value. They were $4,000 below Black Book prices. "Your car just isn't in high demand, and has a lower resale value". My salesman tried to tell me it had been repainted! Even after I said I've never been in an accident in my life, he continued to try to tell me it had been repainted. After checking the CarFax, they saw it had never been in an accident. They bragged about how my Sonata has "excellent resale value" when I bought it 2 years ago! Funny how things change when you're trying to make a sale. As a repeat customer, I can't tell you how disappointed I was in the entire staff. From start to finish, no one cared at all that I had previously purchased a $30,000 car and was now trying to purchase a $40,000 car. Even though Brian said "I was part of the family" (such a line), and that Mike was "sharpening his pencil" (direct quote) to get me the "best deal", I ultimately walked out feeling frustrated and like I just wasted a bunch of time. I will never step foot in this dealer again. I will take my current Hyundai to Napleton Hyundai for service from now on. These sleazy, old school sales tactics are far outdated. If you are a savvy consumer, shop elsewhere. More
