Purchase Used Forester Pretty much a positive experience, although visiting any car dealer is painful. I saw on the web this Forester and decided to check it out. I was greeted promptly by salesman Eric who quickly took a copy of my DL, found the keys and off we went within 15-20 minutes. We came back and I decided to purchase. Eric took whatever paperwork he needed from me and went back and forth to the sales manager. This was time consuming and I made sure Eric knew I wanted in and out ASAP. OK, this was the painful part on the first day. There was no haggling on the price, although the trade-in they quoted was less than I expected. I spent about 1.5 hours this day. I said I'd come back in a couple days, but they tried to get me to buy at that moment. That was the only pressure that day. I came back after the weekend and Eric was already there - said he came in early to get the paperwork up to speed. Then off to the finance guy. This was painful. Sign this, sign that, why won't you buy an extended warranty - it's such a good deal. The finance charge initially was 4.99%, but after the guy called the bank, and sold me a basic warranty at 1/2 cost, the finance rate went to 2.39%. Hmmm. Anyway this day I was at the dealer for 1.5 hours, too. Too long if you ask me. Gerald dealership gives you an exclusive lifetime powertrain warranty. That's nice. Overall, you got to watch out for yourself at all these places, but this was pretty straightforward. More
