We purchased a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 Duramax from Grieco Chevrolet in Fort Lauderdale on June 2, 2023 for about $70,000. Unfortunately, our experience since then has been extremely stressful and from Grieco Chevrolet in Fort Lauderdale on June 2, 2023 for about $70,000. About one month after purchasing the truck, while traveling from Florida to Virginia, we experienced serious brake problems on I-95. We stopped at a Chevrolet dealer in South Carolina for an emergency inspection but were told nothing was wrong. When we returned to Florida, a Chevrolet dealer in Cape Coral also said the computer showed no issues. Months later the truck began having new problems. The engine would jerk forward, and when the truck shut off there was a strong burning plastic smell. Shortly after that we experienced acceleration problems. We returned to the Cape Coral Chevrolet dealership where they kept the truck about 15 days and eventually replaced the turbocharger under GM warranty. During that time we had to rent a vehicle out of our own pocket. Then on September 1, 2025, the truck completely shut down without warning while driving on I-75, putting us in a very dangerous situation. It had to be towed to Grieco Chevrolet in Fort Lauderdale, the same dealership where we bought it. As of March 10, 2026, the truck has now been at the dealership for more than six months without a clear diagnosis or repair, even though the truck has about 89,000 miles and is still under the manufacturer warranty. We have received several conflicting explanations, including: • A possible air conditioning issue • Another turbo failure • Or that the turbo installed in Cape Coral may have been installed incorrectly, allowing metal fragments to enter the engine and cause internal damage We were told a camera inspection showed metal inside the engine, but the engine has still not been opened because the dealership says they are waiting for GM authorization. Meanwhile the financial impact has been severe: • We continue paying $1,200 per month to GM Financial for a truck we cannot use • We paid about $1,300 per month for several months in rental vehicles • The loaner vehicles provided were small SUVs that do not work for our job We work in residential remodeling, so we need a truck to transport tools and materials. Because of this we have had to rent trucks just to continue working. We even hired a Lemon Law attorney, but without a formal engine diagnosis the case cannot move forward. After everything our family has gone through, we cannot recommend purchasing a vehicle from this dealership or bringing your vehicle here for service. We hope that by sharing our experience other customers will carefully consider where they choose to buy or service their vehicles. More
