I took my car to Gunn Honda for required maintenance. Mason, signed me in and quickly got my car in the shop. Had my 2015 Odyssey (with less than 40K miles) towed to Gunn for engine misfiring. Was told it needed what amounted to an engine rebuild to the tune of $7,300 “approximately.” Honda refused to help with r Gunn for engine misfiring. Was told it needed what amounted to an engine rebuild to the tune of $7,300 “approximately.” Honda refused to help with repairs. Cue the sales department. Took over 24 hours to get a trade-in value. Extremely low, of course. And we’re already playing the “I have to check with my manager.” game. Had it towed to an independent shop. Got a whole vehicle diagnostic test. Engine was not found to need a rebuild. Other services Honda shops recommended were also found to be unnecessary. I checked online for services Honda recommends by time and found it due for a timing belt at seven years. Honda also suggests replacing the water pump with the timing belt. Honda dealer services never advised doing this. Timing belt failures can be catastrophic. Added the timing belt and water pump to the suggested repair at the independent shop. Total bill, $3,475. With a 36-month, 36K-mile warranty on parts and labor. Gunn essentially offers a “tail lights” warranty (Good as long as your tail lights can be seen from their driveway.) on anything not warranted by the manufacturer. I don’t appreciate attempts to upsell me on repairs and downgrade my vehicle’s worth. Makes me wonder if it’s because I’m an elderly female. I’d give no stars if that were possible. More
