I recently purchased a 2018 Honda HR-V from Hampstead Pre-Owned with Roman and unfortunately my experience has been very disappointing. Only 2 weeks after buying the vehicle, the brake system warning Pre-Owned with Roman and unfortunately my experience has been very disappointing. Only 2 weeks after buying the vehicle, the brake system warning light came on, along with the parking brake warning light and stayed illuminated. On top of that, the Neutral gear indicator started flashing both while driving and while the vehicle was in park. This was alarming and raised serious concerns about the condition and safety of the car. I contacted the dealership on Saturday morning, 5/16/26 and was advised by the Customer Service manager, Kiran that the service department does not operate business on weekends. The Service Department manager, Jonathan was contacted and returned my call via text on Monday, 5/18/26 and advised that I should take it to a local mechanic to diagnose the problem. He was busy and couldn’t fit it in his schedule until next week. The dealership doesn’t know if any lights will come in your vehicle after you purchase it and the warranty is only valid for 10 days and it doesn’t cover the braking system. When purchasing a vehicle, especially from a dealership, I expect transparency and confidence that the car is safe and properly inspected before being sold. I understand that used vehicles may eventually need repairs, but major warning indicators appearing within such a short period after purchase is unacceptable. I strongly recommend that anyone considering buying from this dealership get a full independent mechanical inspection before signing paperwork or you will be highly at a disadvantage. More

We have had our new vehicle for about 10 days. Our Salesperson, Victoria, was fantastic. She walked us through the process. She gave us space to talk, but talked us through. The salesperson verbally promised to fix the paint scratches to get the sale, but intentionally left it off the 'we owe' form to get out of it. They also padded the contract with a fake $499 'Freight' scratches to get the sale, but intentionally left it off the 'we owe' form to get out of it. They also padded the contract with a fake $499 'Freight' fee on a used car and hid the cost of a forced warranty in the base price so it couldn't be refunded. I just realized almost a year later after I wanted to contact them ask them if they could assist me but of course not. Update: I have officially filed a formal complaint with the Maryland Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division (Case # MU-537166) regarding the fake freight fee and deceptive paperwork. I am awaiting the dealership's response to the state. More

My experience at Hampstead preowned could not have been better. Kiran, the customer care rep, greeted me and had me entered into their systems within minutes, and was very friendly and welcoming. The sales better. Kiran, the customer care rep, greeted me and had me entered into their systems within minutes, and was very friendly and welcoming. The sales person who took care of me, Kim MacMaster, was efficient and attentive, and got right to the job of helping me narrow down my choices. (She also has a great sense of humor, always a plus in a potentially anxiety inducing situation.) The whole experience was low stress, and I left that day with a car that I am very happy with, at what I felt was a very reasonable price. I deliberately waited almost a month before I submitted my review, so that I could see how the dealership dealt with any little problems that might surface with the car. I had one, I called them, and they immediately put one of their mechanics on the line, who explained what I was experiencing, which turned out to be operator error. Modern cars are so loaded with innovative features, some of which I was completely unfamiliar with! The mechanic got me straightened out right away. I am quite satisfied. I will give you this warning: this place does a hopping business. Peruse their website and come in prepared. When I was there there were three cars that I wanted to look at. While I was test driving my number three choice, my number one choice was sold out from under me. So, do your homework, and come ready to act. They will do their best for you. More
Not honest. Gave me the ol' "bait & switch" Drove 1.5 hrs for a specific vehicle. The vehicle price was listed on Auto Trader, then reviewed the listing on their Gave me the ol' "bait & switch" Drove 1.5 hrs for a specific vehicle. The vehicle price was listed on Auto Trader, then reviewed the listing on their website. We visited the dealer, a sales rep allowed us to test drive the car, then offered to repair the minor issues. The car itself was a five year old car with 69k miles on it. It was in very good condition. The price listed was good. After the test-drive, we went into the office with the sales rep. We told the rep we were paying “cash” (check) and would not be financing (they encouraged us to finance and said we could pay it off early, but after questioning we found out that the earlier would be 6 months). Anyway, the rep disappeared into the other room for a while, then cam back with a sheet of paper that had the advertised price with SEVERAL OTHER LINES WITH COSTS, including “certified vehicle cost” and a few other fees. These costs were $3,547 dollars! THESE FEES WERE NOT DISCLOSED ON THEIR WEBSITE OR AUTO TRADER’s website. I am not an experienced used-car buyer, but this is not honest. We left the dealership because now the price went from a “good deal” to a fair or even poor deal. So I wasted 5 hours of my life on this bad experience. So why am I giving the rating a “2” instead of a “1”? Because other than the failure to disclosed the 16% ($3.5k) “markup”, they were nice people. For some reason, the executive management/ownership thinks this practice is “normal”, honest, and good business? Maybe I’m naive, but I’m also a businessman and in my business, we don’t do that. TOTAL HONESTY/INTEGRITY is always the best way to run a business! More
