"Nightmare" This is my 3rd car as a loyal customer with Hawthorne Chevrolet (HC) Within LESS than 24hrs of purchasing my used Chevy Trail Blazer (which was servi This is my 3rd car as a loyal customer with Hawthorne Chevrolet (HC) Within LESS than 24hrs of purchasing my used Chevy Trail Blazer (which was serviced by HC for the life of the vehicle) my family and I came to the realization that the transmission was inoperable. When driving the vehicle on the highway it lost power and all of the transmission fluid had leaked out B4 our eyes. I had the vehicle towed from route 208 N right back to Hawthorne Chevrolet thinking that they would fix it without any questions asked??? Not only did they say it was "Sold as is and not responsible", they charged me $750 to replace all of the lines thinking that would be the solution. After picking up the car when the transmission lines were done, within minutes on my drive home the transmission was slipping again. The vehicle was taken directly back to Hawthorne Chevrolet. Steven in service had told me that 3rd gear was slipping and recommended a re-manufactured transmission. Hawthorne Chevrolet then proceeded to tell me that it’s going to cost me $3000 plus tax out of my own pocket. I just purchased a car for $6300, why should I have to put in new lines ($750) + a new transmission ($3000) with in less than 24 hours of owning the vehicle, especially when they claimed to have serviced the vehicle for the past 13 years. Being that said they obviously knew that the transmission was no good when selling the vehicle to me. So to sum things up, I bought a car and was unable to drive within 24hrs of its purchase. They refused to give me a loaner and fix it at their expense. I have been spending $50/day on Uber to get back and forth each day for work; I am also paying for insurance for a car that has been sitting in their lot for 2 weeks. Why should I have to put $4000 into a car with in less than 24hrs of owning? This is out right unfair and just bad business. Especially that this is my 3rd car from them. You would think they would want to help a loyal customer. This is not fair. What would you do???? Michael More

Repeat problem, repeat frustration My vehicle is not new, I get it: however I requested a/c service during a prior visit and had to subsequently return to have it serviced again. My original issue was the a/c system not cooling and I had the system recharged. The vehicle a/c system was not even used for a while after that service, but, lo and behold, when needed during a brief area heatwave, it was not cooling the vehicle. I revisited the service dept and was told the system was leaking. I was obviously frustrated by the hot vehicle but also the wasted time. This was certainly not my first bad experience at Hawthorne, where I bought the vehicle, and I have honestly avoided the dealership for my next 2 purchases as a result. It seems that the site is often overwhelmed, and that their work is not very thorough. I won't say that the problem is indifference because I do not think that the service team are bad employees, but I should be more confident servicing at the dealership where my vehicle was purchased than the local garage. I wanted to speak with the service manager regarding my concerns but was told he was tied up and too busy. Translation: more unhappy customers needed his or her attention. I have been in business management and customer service for over 30 years and would never expect to hear that from a reputable business. Hawthorne Chevy is not donating its services to its customers free of charge. I did appreciate the follow up work being completed the same day, which was important to me. Ultimately, I received a "discount" for the freon used during the initial service and I guess Hawthorne thought that was acceptable. Wrong, very wrong... More
