My Dealership participates in the DealerRater.com Certified Dealer Program. We are committed to providing high quality customer service, but based on your DealerRater.com review, you did not share that experience. That is very disappointing to us, and through this program we have the opportunity to work with you to resolve any issues with your experience at our dealership. Dusty Hayes 770-963-5251

Hi Robin, This is Mark Chitwood here. Dusty fowared your concern to me so I cauld contact you. I am sorry to hear that we dissapointed you in the way the last repair was handled. The brakes on the mini vans don't last as long as you or I would like them to. This is a heavy vehicle and they do get a lot of stop and go driving running mom's taxie service. I have spoken to the local Chrysler Rep about some goodwill assiatnce from Chrysler. He is to call me back and let me know today what he and Chrysler can help with on the expense. I am also sorry that Glenn seemed condescending toward you. We will work on this issue with him. As for the time it took to get you done... this was Presidents Day and we were simply overrun with vehicles that day and were fighting a uphill battle all day. Not the normal day for sure! I will be back intouch when I get a call from Chrysler and update you. Thanks for your feedback, Mark Chitwood

I understand that mini vans do not necessary get the best wear of any vehicle but the performance on the 2008 T & C is worse than others. If you Google the van you will see how widespread the issue is in this year model not prior models. Can you explain the reason for this?

Mar 07, 2011 -

Hayes Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Lawrenceville responded

I will sure try. The 2008 was a brand new vehcile from the ground up so to speak. It had a new brake system as well. Because most people put an average of 12K to 15K on a vehicle in a year a issue like premature brake wear takes about a year or a little longer to surface as a problem. So, by the time we begin to see it as a problem it has been a year down the road. We did report this to Chrysler as a concern when we started to see customer with worn brakes at what we considered low mileage compared to the 2007 and prior year models (20 to 25K was the average brake life on these)but it is already a year down the road. It takes the manufacture time to anyalize the issue then come up with a fix. These fixes have to go through many Goverment certification test which drags the whole process out. It was (if I recall correctley) late 2009 when we started to get some feedback from Chrysler that they were working on a resolution and they released a revised brake pad in early 2010. So we will see if this new pad is the cure. It is still early in the process and we have to let some customers get 20 to 25 miles on the pads to see. Anyway, I got a little off base to part of your question. By the time the 2009 vehicles went into production Chrysler had changed the brake pad and this helped the life on the newers models. They also issued a warranty extension for customers of 2008 vans up to 36K on a pro-rate bases since they reconized the issue. I spoke with our Chrysler Rep Friday aftenoon and he is looking into assistance for this issue. However, I am not going to wait on him. I will refund you the labor on this brake job so we can put this to bed. You should see a check in about a week after I get your acceptance of this adjustment. Again I am sorry that this happened and I look foward to seeing you in the future taking care of you and your vehicle. If you would like to use a different advisor just let me know and we can switch...no problem. Mark

I would greatly appreciate your dealership refunding my cost for the last brake job but that will not resolve the issue unless your dealership plans to do this each time I return for my brakes. When you and I spoke by phone on 7/15/2010, you assured me that the new type of brake pads being placed on my vehicle at that time would last at least 20,000 miles. Well, that is not the case so is there a new plan for this issue?

Mar 11, 2011 -

Hayes Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Lawrenceville responded

Robin, I will get the check cut and on its way. This is a onetime goodwill refund on the behalf of Hayes because we value you as a customer. Any further adjustments would have to come from directly from Chrysler Corp. As I stated in my earlier email this is a issue that Chrysler is working to resolve and it will take time to get there. In the history of the mini vans going back to 1994 I typically see no more than about 25K on brake life. I have seen the occasional customer who gets 30K because of their driving habits and conditions. The assurance that you should get 20K plus miles on your brakes is what we expected from the new pads but no guarantee. As a foot note I did a Google search using the following search verbiage "brake wear issues" and was surprised at the results. Chrysler Town n Country or Dodge Caravans don't even get a hit on the first 7 pages I looked at. It was all about Honda, VW and some other imports. This puts the issue into some perspective for me. We may not be as bad as it seems when compared to the imports. I checked with my local Chrysler rep to make sure that there are no recent developments that I was not aware of and there is not. Bottom line is you’re not happy and I understand. At this point I will refer you to the Chrysler Customer Care Center for further assistance with this concern. The phone number is in your owners booklet.

Hayes Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Lawrenceville responded

While we understand the customers concern, it is an issue that the manufacture must resolve with the customer. We have made an effort to resolve this concern but it ultimately has to be resolved by the manufacture. We have advised the owner how to do this.
