Not Impressed I will never bring anything to their service department again. I was charged $200 for a simple diagnoses that should have taken 20-30 minutes (at most I will never bring anything to their service department again. I was charged $200 for a simple diagnoses that should have taken 20-30 minutes (at most). Details: I dropped my truck off 3-27-2020 for two recalls. I also asked them to see why the sunroof sunshade wouldn’t close. May need a simple recalibration? I figured they probably know more than I as I’ve never worked on sunroofs. I was definitely wrong. They diagnose the problem as a bad sunroof track. Of course they tell me it needs everything; motors, track, etc. My truck is barely out of warranty, even though it’s a 2017 with only 18xxx miles. I know how warranties work, so I don’t expect it to be repaired for free. I tell the Service advisor, Dustin, I don’t want to spend $3200. He acts surprised and tells me the front sunroof glass was removed for diagnostics and it may take 3-4 hours to reinstall. I told him to leave it apart as I don’t want to pay $100plus an hour to have it reinstalled. Especially if the problem isn’t going to be any better than when they disassembled the sunroof. So as I’m in the waiting room ready to pick up my truck up, Dustin tells me the mechanic is going to reinstall the glass (makes up some excuse how the glass will blow out if it’s not reinstalled) May take about an hour. Ok, isn’t the glass removed? How will it blow out? But Whatever, So I leave. I get a call 30 minutes later that it’s back together and they put crash tape on the sunroof so it won’t leak. Keep in mind I brought it in because the sunroof shade wouldn’t shut. Not because the sunroof was leaking. The sunroof has never leaked. $200 to tell me I need a $3200 sunroof. I thought maybe removing the glass is time consuming? And I now have crash tape on the top of my $65,000 truck. Ok whatever, pride of ownership I guess. I didn’t care if the sunroof worked. But I had to figure out something, because there was all kinds of road noise since the sunroof was no longer air tight. Bring my truck home and remove the tape so that it will no longer look like a salvage yard truck. Five minutes later I have the sunroof glass removed and can clearly tell the track is broken. The problem is so obvious. I’m sure all Machens had to do was remove & reinstall the sunroof glass. I got charged $200 for a 20 minute diagnoses..... six bolts to remove the glass. Come to find out, it’s a common problem with these trucks. So the mechanic probably knew the problem before he tore it apart!! I called Dustin to ask why I was charged $200 to R&I the sunroof glass. He told me they had trouble aligning it all back up so that it wouldn’t leak. The track was stuck, how would they have aligned it? By the way, the adjustments are on the glass brackets, not the track. The truck made wind noise on the way home, so it wasn’t even correctly aligned. I wish they had left it tore apart like I told them to do, and I could have put it back together myself. Rather than having to pay them $100 an hour for nothing More
