First, everyone, including the service manager, is very polite at John Hinderer Honda; however, after a routine oil change, I was told that there was transmission fluid leaking from the passenger spindle a polite at John Hinderer Honda; however, after a routine oil change, I was told that there was transmission fluid leaking from the passenger spindle and that the axle would need to be replaced at a cost of $1200. I was told if I didn’t fix it, the boot would fail and make the car inoperable. Finally, I was told that this was some what of an immediate concern. It was marked “red” on the service report. Please note that the repair and associated mechanical problems for a leaky spindle versus a leaky boot are completely different. I took the vehicle home, looked for the leak and could not find it. I took it to another mechanic who lifted the car and could not find it either. Finally I looked up the proper repair for a leaky spindle, which is a replacement seal. Average cost is $300. Even if the axle needs replaced because of a leaking boot, the average cost is $800. This is borderline fraudulent behavior as I fully believe if I did not research the issue myself, John hinderer honda would have charged me $1200 on the spot to fix a problem that never existed. update: I realized that I initially inadvertently selected the wrong service manager when I inputted this review. That has been corrected; however, I did receive a “random” password change request by email for my dealer rater account. I did not make this request. My best guess is that someone else made the request to hack the account, the timing of which is very odd. More
