SERVICE DEPT IS RUINING THIS BUSINESS I am amazed at how inept the service department is about the relationship between sales and service. In this day and age when businesses are losing c I am amazed at how inept the service department is about the relationship between sales and service. In this day and age when businesses are losing customers to the internet, one last opportunity to secure future business is through face to face interaction. This does not exist at Shuman. Not only do they fail to seize opportunity they shrug their responsibilities to existing customers. Since I did not lease the vehicle at this dealership but clearly have expressed an interest in doing so you would think they would recognize a future lease...especially when mine is up in 5 months. This makes no sense to me but I am not the owner nor manager here, so I can only share my experience. I have been dealing with DEAN in the service department who has done everything possible to dodge (no pun intended) to shirk responsibility for Chrysler. Whether Chrysler or me have to pay for a repair I would think you would make some attempt to explore options rather than fleece the customers for the highest out of pocket cost. My case: alternator failed which is a common problem after “limited” research in 2011-2014 Durangos. Mine is a 2015, which prompted me to call Chrysler myself after DEAN presented an almost $1000 cost to repair plus rental. After explaining the issue with Chrysler I asked “is it possible that some of the 2015’s received the same RECALLED alternator”. Susan an Chrysler agreed and called the dealership to rectify the problem. End result, $100 out of pocket, car fixed and rental paid. Now I have returned for another issue with the engine immediately after SHUMAN repaired the alternator. They haven’t even closed my last issue out at Chrysler and mailed my rental reimbursement check and DEAN is attempting to charge me for a rental and $110 to look at it! It’s as if he has no memory of what just occurred and his personal conversation with Susan at Chrysler. I explained all of this once again and he had the audacity to hide behind policy without even attempting to ask a supervisor. I asked him if he could talk to Susan again who was still holding the last work order open pending the outcome. He said he did not have her number??? I am amazed at the stupidity of his response! How can you not when she authorized $1000 in repairs and you spoke to her personally? The information has to be contained in the record otherwise Shuman wouldn’t have gotten paid. I am at a complete loss of understanding with DEAN and the handling by SHUMAN over this. 1) opportunity lost for a future lease 2) dodging responsibility 3) lack of initiative ...and people wonder why they’re losing business... Mike called before the vehicle was completed to inform me their was recommended service due (replacement of 16 spark plugs for the Hemi).
