I went to Steve Landers CDJR because they had a Built to Serve Ram on the lot that I liked and found the day prior. I inquired about the truck and set up and appointment to look at it. I got there and we drove the truck, I noticed it didn't have a trailer brake and inquired about getting one put in. I was told it would cost $500 dollars. Ram trailer brakes are anywhere from $265 and $295 and an hour of labor to program which I was told is $120 at Steve Landers CDJR. I opted not to spend the $500 considering I can do it for less. I was lured to the dealership by "Top Dollar for your trade", I was offered $38,000 when according to KBB and other sources my trade was valued at approximately $45,000. I still didn't get trade value for my vehicle. I was told that if I wanted my purchase detailed that it would be an hour and a half wait, and I'd already been there longer than I think I had to in order to complete the deal. I was offered a detail the following week if I wanted. I went to finance and I was told they were going to fuel up the truck. I came out of finance and the truck was gone so I went to the trade to start getting my things out. The truck pulled up in front of the business as I was getting my things together and next thing I know my sales person is now walking around the lot with two females. I go inside and a key and folder to my purchase are on his desk. The truck is unlocked so I started moving my things over. I get all my stuff moved over and he comes to help me put my license plate on the truck. Using a phillips bit he drills a hole in the plastic part of the bumper, clearly the hole was going to be too big to accommodate the screw to hold the plate on. In order to prevent another unnecessary hole in the rear of my brand new truck I asked for the drill so that I could put the license plate on myself. He then helped me with getting the Uconnect set up and my phone linked to the truck. At this point I was just ready to go, frustrated with the deal the time it took and the whole process. As I drive away I notice they didn't even give me a full tank of gas, it was barely 1/2 a tank. I left them with more gas in the trade than they provided me. They now have my trade listed at $48,500, they are making thousands of dollars off me, yet they couldn't give me full tank of gas. I have no aspiration to return to Steve Landers CDJR for anything, service, parts, or to buy another vehicle and I don't know that I would recommend them to anyone. Overall, I did not have a personal experience, my salesperson was taking personal phone calls while getting me to sign documents that he probably should have been explaining, and luckily I know how to read and at times was nowhere to be found. I was private messaged by the dealership asking for my information, name, email and phone number for someone to reach out to me. No one did so I sent a private message back addressing not being contacted. On 5/12/2021 I received an email survey and submitted a review for the dealership to the customer relations person. I then received and email stating, “We take your concerns and honest feedback very seriously. Rest assured we will discuss your comments and take appropriate action.” Thank you for the discussion...? This email response is obviously generic and more than likely automated. Still, I wouldn’t recommend Steve Landers CDJR. More
We did everything over the phone. Got all of the paperwork set and agreed upon. We drive in from about two hours away, when we got in we were showed the car to verify that it was what we wanted. My salesman (Ray Smith) was great and I had a pretty good experience with the dealership except their willingness to budge on the price. I know that the salesperson is only able to do so much.
