Mac Haik Ford Lincoln

This review is specifically for the Mac Haik Ford dealership off of the Katy Freeway inside the Beltway. I don't know how Dealer Rater missed it and is just listing Mac Haik in Georgetown. Basically, I was in the market for a new truck and called numerous dealers around the state and even in neighboring states after viewing their new inventory online. After reading the reviews here, several people mentioned Damon Mendel was helpful, friendly and honest with the pricing he gave over the phone. So, I gave Mac Haik Ford in Houston a call even though I live in San Antonio. I asked to speak with Damon and told him the specific truck on his lot that I was interested in. He let me off the phone to investigate what it could be sold for and promptly called me no more than five minutes later (I honestly think it was closer to about 2.5 minutes, but you get the idea). After agreeing to a price, he immediately went to his lot, pulled the truck and put it in back to ensure no other customer/salesman would grab it. As I said before, I do live in San Antonio and one does not exactly go to Houston to car shop "just to look around". The next morning, the family drove up to Houston to visit Damon where he immediately greeted us and we began the paperwork for the truck. Everything about the truck was great and Damon certainly worked hard on his part to ensure that it was worth our time to drive about 200 miles to Houston to business with him and his dealership. At the end of the day, if you're shopping for a Ford whether you're in Houston, San Antonio, DFW, Austin, or any of the hundreds of surrounding towns in Texas, I would certainly take a few minutes to look up what Mac Haik has and see what Damon can work out for you. Like all businesses, there may be times Mac Haik isn't the best deal as inventories and markets fluctuate daily. It's the nature of the beast. But, this is the first American car our family has bought in 30+ years, we will certainly give Damon a call to see what he can do for us if we're ever looking to purchase a new Ford again. I would certainly recommend him to all family/friends looking to buy a Ford in Texas. More

Paul Kimberlin, the salesman was one of the best. Very knowledgeable and no pressure. He answered our questions and took good care of us. I could not recommend him any higher. They handed me a loan agreement without discussing the terms or the interest rate. Considering I put 1/3 down on my car, the interest rate was way too high. When I complained, they quickly dropped the rate by 1.5%. I traded in a car that had equity. Mac Haik had a payoff amount in my contract that was not correct. The payout amount was less than I owed, so they overcharged me. I did not know this until a couple days after signing the loan agreement. Since I just purchased my car, I don't know how easy it will be to get a refund. My advice if you buy from Mac Haik...... Definitely work with Paul Kimberlin and when you get to the finance part, read and question everything. They will include charges in your agreement without mentioning them to you. YOU HAVE TO READ THE CONTRACT CAREFULLY. Let's just say the finance group wasn't looking out for my interest. They were more interested in squeezing out a little more profit. More

Problem was engine repair on a 3 valve V-8. Engine light was on. Cause was low compression,coil, spark plug and or fuel problem. In determining the problem, only a electronic diagnosis was used. Facts presented to me were of a mechanic who did not have a lot of experienced in getting all the facts as to the cause of my engine problems. Reported to me was that the camshaft had galling marks and the cam bearings were scratched which caused low oil pressure which would affect lubrication of rockers and camshaft bearings. Upon inspection of camshaft there are no galling on it nor on rockers arms. I found that a spark plug had been improperly installed some 34.000 miles early which had caused low compression caused by blow by, carbon in spark plug well also on coil boot. Spark plug tip had burnt off and exited by way of exhaust valve as exhibited by marks on exhaust valve face My findings were pointed out to service manager. Mechanic said spark plug was not installed in head when cylinder was removed. Machine shop said a valve guide was out specification which lead to sticking exhaust valve and the low compression. I am now out $4200 for a new cylinder head asy. More
