Santiago was extremely knowledgeable about our vehicle and the needed repairs, kept me informed throughout the entire process, and helped me solve a pesky administrative issue with my family's account. As a bonus, his father, Santiago Sr., shuttled me back to work after dropping off my vehicle. He was incredibly gracious, a perfect driver, and wonderful conversationalist. It was a great start to my day. It is obvious that both gentlemen take great pride and care in their work, and I hope that I'm able to work with this same team in the future. Many thanks, Pizano family! More
The right salesperson makes ALL the difference! We started our car search with what motor trend called "compact sedans" in their 2016/2017 "Big Test." That meant Cruze, Jetta, Civic, Elantra, Mazda3, Sentra & Corolla. We were looking for $99-$150/mo leases - mostly to replace our aging 2006 Prius. I gave it a week to find out all I could about these cars. I was going it alone because my husband didn't really want to buy a car...I mean he didn't think we needed a new car PERIOD. I decided to see if any of these cars met our criteria for replacing our Prius. Number one: Interior space closely followed by price, and then pickup/engine power. I knew I wouldn't get luxury at this price point. I didn't expect it. I hit the internet for facts. At a glance I crossed the Elantra, Mazda, Sentra, & Corolla off my list. Elantra just "felt" wrong for me. Mazda was too "millennial" and the back seats too small. Sentra - well, the Sentra and Corolla just didn't impress. So I had Jetta, Civic & Cruze left. Then I started my dealer search. Pulling into Manly Honda I glanced at the Civic. I really hate where Honda took the Civic (and Toyota took the Prius) this year with regard to the tail lights. They look space-ship-futuristic-y! They will regret this. It will date them both very quickly. Lest you think I didn't give the Civic a chance, I spent 10-15 min looking at it inside and out. The front seat fit me but I just couldn't get past the tail lights. I had no interaction with a salesperson. So, off to the VW dealership for the Jetta. I had owned a Jetta back in the early 2000's. I bought it for a good commuter car w/a diesel engine when diesel was 76 cents/gallon. It performed admirably back then. I'd grown though. I am 15 years older and need different things. I need a back seat my in-laws could get into comfortably, and I need mileage. VW changed too.. can you say "emissions scandal?" They would stay on the list but reluctantly. Chevrolet was on my list because our best friend owned Volt(s) for the last two model changes. The Cruze was built on the same body/frame style. The price though, the price! No leather - not even "pleather" and it was STILL $24k! No extras that I could find that would justify that price. That was $2k less than the Jetta (and the Accord) but didn't get the mileage of the others NOR 1/2 the features the Jetta had. I had the facts now. I just had to do a data dump to my husband (Mike). He wasn't gonna enjoy this. When I do a data dump I fill him in on every aspect of everything I find. I am a computer programmer. This would take awhile. Saturday morning Mike agreed to come out and do car shopping including driving tests. We went first to Manly Honda - because even though I hated the tail lights Mike had to be convinced I wasn't being petty. Well, wouldn't you know...Mike loved the style of the Civic! We spent a good 10 minutes inside, outside, examining, and testing the feel and fit of the Civic. We both agreed it just wasn't big enough. Then Mike did something I didn't think he would...he upsold *ME*! "Let's look at the Accord since we're here!" I had kept the Accord off my list because A: I thought they were expensive, and B: they hadn't impressed me with their styling in the past. HOWEVER I hadn't looked at them in the last 2 years or so. Enter: Aaron Katz - "Manly Honda salesperson"! We were looking at an Accord in the parking lot when Aaron walked up and introduced himself in an affable way. He asked what we were looking for and what our criteria was (Mike kept saying $99/mo lease!) We told him we'd looked at the Civics but they were just too small. I also immediately said "Tan leather is a must!" So he walked us over to an absolutely gorgeous white Accord with tan leather and almost everything we wanted. We never felt rushed or pressured! Either of those things would've caused me to run the other direction. At this price ($26k) we couldn't be rushed. We hadn't had a car payment for over 10 years and we couldn't be pressured. Aaron knew this was above the price I was going for and I needed time to absorb the change while changing my focus to what I was GETTING - not what I was paying! Also remember: Mike was ready to just walk away at any time. Mike didn't NEED a car. *I* wanted a car. There is a difference. We needed lunch and told him we were going to the VW location next, then to lunch. We said we'd promised to show Mike ALL the cars and Honda is still in the running. He gave us his card and we left. He knew he wasn't gonna get a sale from high-pressure. We quickly went to VW...decided that it was off our list UNLESS the Accord doesn't work out - it was just too small! After lunch (and ice cream) we texted Aaron to put out the white car we saw earlier (for a test drive)...and a Hybrid white Accord w/tan leather. Then I added: Put out the same cars in Crimson Red too. BTW: Texting is a fantastic way NOT to sound excited and "give away the game" when you tell a salesperson you are gonna test drive a car! Driving up to Manly Honda we immediately saw a Honda Accord Hybrid *Touring edition* in Crimson Red RIGHT in front of the dealership with a Honda Accord v6 in Crimson Red right next to it. Aaron had moved all 4 cars there. We test drove the Hybrid first...and nothing else! We didn't need anything else. This car was more expensive, but he KNEW we were Prius owners. He KNEW what we were *initially* searching for was NOT what we needed. He KNEW we were used to high MPG with our Prius. He KNEW the Jetta and Cruze couldn't come CLOSE to the 49mpg the Accord Hybrid gets. He KNEW *even though* the price tag was high, the car had EVERYthing we wanted. He KNEW he could get us a good deal on it. Why? Because he had listened to us! He listened to what we said to him AND to each other! THESE are the reasons to get a good salesperson. Just some advice: popular theory is to avoid salespeople. Popular theory these days is to read up on everything via the internet and then go it alone with this sort of "here is what I want to pay" attitude. Remember the sources that tell you to do that! Many of those sources are online companies like TrueCar or AutoByTel or KBB. They're mostly trying to supplant salespeople. Most of them want you to do research AND BUY on their sites. Ignore them. Use their data during your negotiation, yes - BUT you need a good salesperson! I examined - truly examined - basically 5 cars. All the facts of each were swirling about my head in such a way that I couldn't end up remembering which model or car had what, and which company had this feature in their service department. Find a good salesperson and jealously guard them! They are the one thing that stops you from buying the wrong car - simply because you THOUGHT it had this or that feature! They are also your after-sales link to the dealership. Believe me! You buy a car with a good salesperson and the minute you walk through that dealership door you KNOW you have someone you can talk to. There's no generic person behind a service desk. Your salesperson will introduce you to your service department and ensure you are taken care of. They will make you feel a connection to your dealership. That's how trust begins. Aaron Katz is now mine. Get your own! 😂 More

We had gone to a competitor dealer and walked away due to the poor customer service. We were concerned as to whether the car would fit in our single stall garage. Tom offered to let us drive the car to our house, so we could make sure it would fit. The freeway ride with Tom answered many questions related to the safety features. It also gave us the opportunity to feel the on-ramp acceleration. When trying to locate a different colored car, Tom drove us around the various Manly lots to make sure we had the chance to see h other color. After purchasing the 2017 Civic Hatchback, Tom followed-up to confirm we were satisfied with the car we bought. He made us feel like as a customer we were important. We will definitely refer friends to Tom Larson and Manly. More

Originally, I'd looked at Manly because they have a pre-authorization for financing feature on their website, and after I submitted that, Chris reached out to me via email and invited me to come in to talk about options. When I showed up to look at some cars, I worked primarily with J.R., who is not only friendly and funny, but also completely dedicated to making sure I found the car that was right for me. I already knew what I wanted - a plug-in hybrid - and there were several of them on the lot for me to choose from. After looking around, and driving a couple of cars, I knew exactly which one I wanted. The rest of the process was equally as smooth, and the folks in the finance department (especially Beejan) worked hard to get me a fantastic package - a much better interest rate and payment plan than I'd expected! At the very end of the process, Chris spent the time to walk me through all the features of my new car (which was terrific, as this is my first hybrid). And now, I'm just completely in love with my new car. Thanks so much to everyone there, and especially to J.R. (he's the BEST!!!), for the fantastic, friendly, and knowledgeable service. They went the "extra mile" for me in a variety of ways, and it was a pleasure doing business with the folks at Manly Honda! More

I appreciated being greeted at my car as I drove up to the service bay and then being escorted to the front desk to check in. The check in and waiting area is clean, comfortable and well equipped. I was assigned a service rep, Ted, who clearly explained the process and repair time and gave me his direct line to call if I had any questions. At one point in the day, I called to check on the status of my vehicle and Ted called me back quickly and gave me an accurate pick up time. It was clear that all of the customers are treated to this level of service. Thank you Manly Honda Service Dept and thank you Ted. More
