I have a Clarity plug in hybrid and explained that I rarely use the gas motor. Still was advised to get the 30 or 35k service (normal for gas-only powered vehicles). My car indicates what service is needed (in this case A01). The owners manual indicates what the different codes mean - including major services. I was told by the service manager that the car doesn’t really know what is needed (paraphrasing) but that my car wasn’t going to breakdown if I didn’t get the service (paraphrasing). Really? My car doesn’t know that it’s over 35k miles and that a major service is needed? Come on! I didn’t get the 35k service. Only A01 as indicated. This is the SECOND I've experienced the service person trying to over sell me expensive service. I know it’s not their fault and they are just following what the computer tells them. This needs to be addressed because it’s BS. The ONLY reason I take my car to the dealer is because this is a hybrid. Otherwise I wouldn’t. The service crew is very nice and not pushy but I don’t even what to have these discussions about hundreds of dollars of unnecessary service!!! PS I love my Clarity! It’s the best car I’ve ever owned. I hope that Honda continues with this model. More
