I purchased a used vehicle from Mark Christopher Cadillac in Ontario, CA. My credit union provided the financing for this vehicle, so it was a cash transaction with the dealership. During my initial visit to in Ontario, CA. My credit union provided the financing for this vehicle, so it was a cash transaction with the dealership. During my initial visit to the dealership, on multiple occasions, the sales person started to fill out a credit application and I question him about it because I didn't need financing and all I needed at the time was the negotiated bottom line price for the vehicle in writing so that my credit union could cut the check for that amount. The next day, I went to pick the vehicle up from the dealership with the approval letter from my credit union. When doing the paperwork with the sales person, I seen him again filling out the credit application form. I again asked why is he filling out the form considering that I'm not looking for financing from them. The sales person told me that it is required by law that they complete a credit application in order to verify my identity regardless of paying cash or not. He explained that they couldn't sell the vehicle without this. I signed all the paperwork and one being the credit application that I felt uncomfortable about and don't think that it was right. After checking with my attorney, I learned that this credit application was not needed or required by law for a cash transaction. I am dissatisfied due to the false assertion by the sales person that is is required by law to pull my credit and I now have that inquiry on my credit profile for the next two years. The sales person also promised me GMC weather mats for the vehicle if I purchased it. The mats referenced during our conversation were mats we seen on another vehicle the sales person showed us that had more miles on it. These mats were thick and covered the font and back of the floor of the vehicle and had the GMC logo on them. After I purchased the vehicle, the sales person gave me mats of a lesser quality and that do not fit for the vehicle I purchased. The mats provided are too small! Honesty and making good on your promise is critical to a customer wanting to return and do business with you. Unfortunately, I would take my business elsewhere or get specific details in writing prior to purchasing again from Mark Christopher. More
