I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 AMG from Mercedes-Benz of Marin without seeing or test driving it — I trusted the dealership and the Mercedes brand. Within 48 hours of receiving the vehicle, it failed with serious mechanical and safety issues: “Do Not Drive Over 50 mph” warning (vehicle entered limp mode) Blind Spot Assist failure All documented with photos and reported immediately to their salesman, Bobby. When I raised the issue, the General Manager, Omar Ibrahimi, offered to buy the vehicle back for the full price I paid: $66,145.25. I agreed. I signed all official documents: title reassignment (REG 262), odometer verification, power of attorney, etc., and returned them promptly by FedEx. Then Omar changed the terms — refusing to send the check until I released the car without payment, a direct reversal of our agreement. When I asked for a fair and standard solution (e.g., send the check with the transporter), he threatened to void the entire deal, despite already holding all my signed legal paperwork. This dealership sold me a defective CPO vehicle and then tried to control the refund process in a way that exposed me to serious financial risk. I’m now filing formal complaints with: Mercedes-Benz USA corporate California DMV Investigations Unit BBB My legal counsel for breach of contract If you’re thinking about trusting this dealership — don’t.
