I've been a car guy my whole life, (66 yrs) from racing cars to building, and customizing many. A businessman my whole life, and even a 3-month stint in my mid 20’s as a car salesman has given me an racing cars to building, and customizing many. A businessman my whole life, and even a 3-month stint in my mid 20’s as a car salesman has given me an awareness of the games some dealers play to sell a car. Before launching on this venture, I informed each salesman/dealer of the following, basically- I had all my ducks in a row: 1. I wanted a specific car. 2. I had a low-interest prequalified loan from my Credit Union on a monthly payment I’m willing to spend a month. I’m not doing financing from your dealership. 3. I have the cash for the difference. 4. I found 7 cars at 7 different Major Car Dealers within a 100-mile radius of me the car the current Blue Book value. 5. There is no trade-in, it’s a straight forward simple deal. I just kindly say thank you and walk away. Six different Car Dealerships over two long days tried to either switch me to their financing or tried to sell me a completely different car brand or sell me extras I don’t want or need. I just kindly said thank you and walked away. The last car (7th on my list only because it was the farthest from my home) was Mission Viejo KIA. The young man "Adam" that showed me the car was the kindest, no-xxxxxxxx, down-to-earth salesman I've ever encountered in my 50-plus years of buying vehicles! Adam knew the previous owner, the pride that he took with taking care of that car- he cherished it. I felt that, I saw the truth in his eyes, and the car showed it. That kind of information you can't get from CARFAX. Before test-driving the car I told Adam, I'm buying this car! I've never done that in my life, and I've never been more sure of a car purchase than I was that day. Every step of the way was the same. Melanie was the original lady I spoke to over the phone before going there. She was tied up with a customer, so she kindly gave me to Adam. Twice in the short time I was there, she kindly checked in with me. The Manager, Safue Alailima “John” finalized the closing, straightforward, very professional, and once again kind! Most satisfying car purchase experience ever! More
