New Motors started as a gas station in 1927 in Hartstown, PA as a gas and service station with Vincent New as proprietor. He later grew to selling Chevrolet's and pre-owned farm equipment.
As times changed in the automotive industry, the Chevrolet sales were eliminated and replaced with a used car outlet and Volvo's acquisition in 1963 followed by Saab and Fiat. His 2 sons, Larry and Gary, began working in their father's garage in the early 60's.
The New brothers quickly learned that hard work and good service would earn a customer for life. It was this work ethic that influenced Larry and Gary to develop the company's mission statement:
"To ensure that you remain our customer for life we are committed to exceed your expectations---Period!"
Every employee from the original 3, to the current 95, practices the mission statement, striving for customer satisfaction.
The decision was made to move the dealership to Erie, PA as an exclusive Volvo dealer in 1970. The 8,000 square foot building was built on 3 acres of land. Vincent New passed away just 3 short months after the completion of the New dealership. He did not get to see the expansion to 80 acres with facilities combining 42,500 square feet of work space with 2 showrooms housing the current pre-owned department and 3 franchises (Subaru, Volkswagen, and BMW).
New Motors is now the top parts wholesaler in PA, Ohio, New York, Virginia, and West Virginia. The company has earned the dealer of excellence and Stellar Performers Certification from Subaru for their drive in outstanding customer Satisfaction.

I had a great sales experience meeting Salesman Eric White at the Erie Bayfront. auto Show and went back up to see him at the New Motors VW dealership a few days later. He remembered me and showed me a new VW Tiguan, which we test drove. Great car, just not enough options for what so was looking for. I was still pondering the purchase and then New Motors advertised a 2025 Used Honda CRV Sport Touring at a good price. I called Eric right up and asked him to get it ready for me to test drive and I would be right up. I test drove it, I talked to him about negotiating the price a bit, and I put money down on it to purchase. I knew I wanted to deal with him and give him my business. The last two cars I bought from other Erie dealerships had me so disgusted by the time I drove away with the cars that I swore I wouldn’t ever buy another car in the city of Erie again. This was truly a pleasant no pressure professional buying experience. Finance Mgr, Seth Murphy was also great to deal with. They made the sale so easy for me on my end and I appreciated their fair and professional, treatment all the way around. I Definitely recommend Eric White and Seth Murphy and New Motors VW! More
