Billy was fantastic. Made the buying process very simple and easy, from first contact via email to negotiations to final price and delivery. Highly recommend Billy at Cowboy Toyota. and easy, from first contact via email to negotiations to final price and delivery. Highly recommend Billy at Cowboy Toyota. More
Good experience overall. I understand these people have to make money and there was some upselling that happened in the finance department but I am not surprised to see this. I prefer to do "no pressure" s to make money and there was some upselling that happened in the finance department but I am not surprised to see this. I prefer to do "no pressure" sales though. I thought a full tank of gas was standard but mine did not come with a full tank of gas. More
Unfortunately, I did not have the positive experience that others did. I contacted this dealership and sales consultant Rodney Houston based on the good reviews each had. I talked with him about ordering that others did. I contacted this dealership and sales consultant Rodney Houston based on the good reviews each had. I talked with him about ordering a truck, specifically, a Lunar Rock Tundra TRD Pro. We talked about the process and pricing. He searched and found a truck that would be available in April. I told him I did not want any dealer add ons, but did want a spray in bedliner from the the factory. This truck is loaded with almost all options from the factory anyway and has no available packages to add. He said this was possible and sent me the build sheet. Everything looked good and the next day I gave him a $500 deposit for the truck. The pricing he gave me was about $400 under MSRP. The following day he sent me a message: "I need to touch base with you concerning the TRD Pro order. My Mgr is NOT willing to wave the dealer adds and because we are stripping the vehicle down, he will not reduce the price. Cowboy Toyota Dealer Adds consist of "Window Tint, Door Edge Guards, Wheel Locks and Cup Protectors (indented area of the door handles). This is an additional $895.00. Your out the door price will be___(2k) higher than the original quote) on this vehicle. I am available if you need to give me a call" So, the price from the original build sheet that was sent to me 2 days before, that they said they could do, went up 2k. The only factory option I did not pick was the sunroof. All of the other add ons would be the ones by the dealer, that were listed above. This does not constitute a "stripped down" truck. I followed up with my disappointment of course and was told, sorry we could not work out a deal and we'll be sure to shred your credit card info. No attempt to smooth things over, offer another solution. They could have just said, we'll give it to you at MSRP and delete the dealer adds. Still makes them 400 or 500 bucks (in lieu of the add ons price), but they got greedy with a popular model. They would already be getting full MSRP pricing on a vehicle that the dealership paid well below invoice to acquire, thousands of dollars in profit. I would not have minded if they had said this was the case from the beginning, but don't show a build sheet with a price, say we can do that price, then retract it a few days later. I'll never cease to be amazed at how greedy and short sided dealerships can be. Instead of working this out and making a deal at not as high of a profit, but making a customer for life who's family will buy many more cars, they choose to go the other way-promise something, take it away, then do nothing to try and make it right. Hope this was all worth it Cowboy Toyota. You definitely lost me, my family and anyone who asks me about your dealership as customers. More
