I am deeply concerned and disappointed with my recent experience at Old Orchard Nissan. My experience began on February 22, 2025, when I found a great price for a Genesis GV80 on their website. I called the dealership and scheduled an appointment with a sales representative named Tom. Upon my arrival, I was informed that Tom was unavailable and was instead assisted by another salesman, Kevin Alcaraz. I did not realize that this change in personnel would signal the beginning of a troubling series of events. When Kevin brought the car around for me to inspect, it was visibly wet, covered in water droplets. While I initially wondered why the vehicle hadn’t been dried off, I didn’t think much of it. Upon closer inspection, however, I noticed several imperfections on the car, which led me to believe the dealership had deliberately used the water to conceal damages to the body. I told Kevin that I was interested in placing a deposit and returning the following Monday to complete the purchase. At that point, Kevin informed me that the dealership was offering an amazing deal since it was the last Saturday of the month, urging me to finalize the purchase that day. I agreed to hear their offer. The car was listed online at $44,372, and Kevin returned from speaking with his manager with an offer. He wrote down the following terms: the price would be dropped to $40,000, the extended warranty (valued at $4,000) would be included at no additional charge, and they would repair the scratches and stains I had pointed out during my inspection. After reviewing the details, I mentioned that I also wished to trade in my pickup truck. Old Orchard Nissan offered me $12,000 for my trade-in, which I accepted. However, the following hours were a frustrating ordeal. I was left in a waiting room for more than three hours while being repeatedly told the process would not take much longer. By this time, it was well past 10:30 PM, and the dealership had already closed at 7:00 PM. Eventually, I was called into the office of Mr. Sundas, the financial accountant. While Mr. Sundas was friendly and talkative, he appeared distracted, and his explanations were often unclear. He made several mistakes in preparing and printing the necessary paperwork, even dropping documents on the floor. Though I reviewed each document I was asked to sign, the structure of the contract seemed intentionally designed to confuse. The deal that had been agreed upon with Kevin was for a car price of $40,000 and a trade-in value of $12,000 for my vehicle. However, when I reviewed the contract, it stated that the car was sold to me for $48,256, with the words of the agreement manipulated to reflect that the $40,000 price included the trade-in value of my vehicle, which had not been previously communicated. It became apparent that the dealership had exploited my vulnerability and engaged in deceptive practices that cost me over $10,000. I am deeply frustrated by this experience and feel that Old Orchard Nissan's actions were intentionally misleading and unfair. More
