If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. This was hands-down the worst experience I’ve ever had in any salesman–customer interaction. I’ve been planning to upgrade my Tiguan to an Atlas for This was hands-down the worst experience I’ve ever had in any salesman–customer interaction. I’ve been planning to upgrade my Tiguan to an Atlas for a while, and VW has been bombarding me with texts and emails encouraging me to trade in my lease. So I checked their online inventory and found an Atlas listed with a Palmetto 57 price of $41,213, marked down from $48,096. I went in Thursday afternoon to see if this was legitimate. The salesperson told us the price was accurate as long as we financed through VW, which we said was completely fine. He also assured us that VW would pay off the remainder of my lease without adding it to the new financing. Based on that, I said I’d come back Friday to test-drive the car and move forward with the purchase because it seemed like such a great deal. Friday, I arrived at my appointment and still waited for an hour (typical dealership tactic, so I let it go). After the test drive, our salesperson Manuel—who truly was extremely kind and did his best—went to get the numbers. He came back with something outrageously inflated, completely different from everything we had discussed the day before. Naturally, we asked him why the price suddenly showed as $48k instead of the $41k listed on THEIR website. We even showed him the listing. He said he’d be right back. Then came Victor Mejia, the sales manager, and this is where everything went downhill. Victor was, without exaggeration, the most disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional man I have ever dealt with in a business setting. We asked him the same question we asked Manuel, and his response was: “hey man in what world did you expect such a discount?” From there, he escalated—stood up, raised his voice, and spoke to my husband and me with an attitude so condescending it was shocking. When I asked him why he was yelling and speaking to us that way, he mocked me and said, “explain how I was speaking.” I told him, “you’re standing up talking down on us and you’re yelling,” and that all I wanted was a calm, adult conversation about why the website price didn’t match the numbers he brought out. He then sat down in a sarcastic, childish manner and said, “are you happy now that im sitting?” At that point, I walked out. There is absolutely no world where I would ever give business to a dealership that allows someone like that to treat customers this way. Do better, VW. I walked in ready to purchase a vehicle that day. But as long as that awful man, Victor Mejia, works there, I will never return—and I hope this review helps others avoid going through what we did. More
