I purchased a used Kia Carnival from Planet Nissan and, before leaving, asked that the vehicle be provided with a full tank of gas. That same day, I drove the vehicle to California and began experiencing a before leaving, asked that the vehicle be provided with a full tank of gas. That same day, I drove the vehicle to California and began experiencing a strong gasoline odor, including gasoline fumes inside the passenger cabin. The problem continued intermittently after the purchase and resulted in multiple trips to Kia trying to determine the source. Because the odor would come and go, it was initially difficult for Kia to duplicate. This was especially concerning because my family was riding in a vehicle that repeatedly smelled strongly of gasoline. Kia has now identified the issue and found the EVAP charcoal canister saturated/full of gasoline. Given that the gasoline odor began the very same day Planet Nissan filled the tank before delivery, I am extremely concerned that the vehicle was overfilled during delivery, allowing liquid gasoline into the EVAP system. This has caused far more than an inconvenience. My family has repeatedly been exposed to gasoline fumes, I have spent considerable time making multiple service visits trying to diagnose the problem, and I have incurred rental-car expenses while the vehicle has been in the shop. What is particularly frustrating is that this started immediately after purchasing the vehicle. I bought a vehicle expecting it to be delivered safely and properly prepared, not to spend the following weeks dealing with gasoline fumes and repeated dealership visits. I hope they review their vehicle-delivery and fueling procedures so another customer and their family do not have to go through the same experience. More
