If you’re a Retired Veteran this is not the place to buy. I bought an Outlander Sport for my son about 5 yrs ago in this dealer. Today, I went there to buy an SUV for my wife as a birthday gift. I felt of I bought an Outlander Sport for my son about 5 yrs ago in this dealer. Today, I went there to buy an SUV for my wife as a birthday gift. I felt offended by Emilio Rodriguez who told me that I didn’t qualify for the military discount of $500. Emilio said: “you’re not a retired member, because you’re not receiving a monthly check.” I told him many times that I have an ID card that says: ‘Retired.’ Of course I’m retired. I did almost 15 yrs in the regular-active army and 7 in the army reserves (total of 22 good years), I just need to be 60 to get my pension (the monthly check). I also explained that I was a 100% service connected/disabled veteran. I want to be brief, but I don’t think I’ll be able; it’s my duty to protect my military brothers and sisters and denounce the wrongdoing of RC Hill Mitsubishi rep. Other dealers I’ve visited in the past few days have offered a $500 military discount without problems, here isn’t the case. They use anything to say you don’t qualify, that you’re not a veteran. I felt very bad, because I’ve scars of my sacrifices in the outside and in the inside. The rapport I had with Emilio started to diminish after I told him that I was a disabled veteran. He responded that he was also a veteran and that his MOS in the army was 76P (stock control and accounting specialist). But the story became weird as I was test driving the SUV, he told me about secret missions and stuff he did while in service; he didn’t realize that I was an army officer and that I had under my command many service members, and some were 76Ps and my clearance was high enough to know certain things. He also told me about his Area Of Responsibility, for my surprise his AOR (specific geographic boundaries) was exactly the same I spent most of my time while in service. I was about to blow, but I played cool. So, I knew he was a liar; so I knew he was going to do the same with the numbers. I understand he needs to make a living, but the use of ‘no, can’t, not possible’ may be a potential problem for him and the dealer. Positive is how to gain the ‘hearts and minds’ of customers, not the other way around. The third time he told me I didn’t qualify for the military discount, I stood up did an about face and went home.
