Riverton Chevy Treats You Horribly Please allow me to share with everyone the “wonderful” (sarcasm, yes) experience I had at Riverton Chevy over the last couple of weeks. They have a 20 Please allow me to share with everyone the “wonderful” (sarcasm, yes) experience I had at Riverton Chevy over the last couple of weeks. They have a 2004 Silverado HD with almost 130K miles on it (stock number 14960), and with an original price tag greater than $17K, that I called to set an appointment for a test drive about two weeks ago. I spoke with a sales rep named Veronica. I told her I was coming into Salt Lake for an event and I would be limited on time when I was to arrive, yet still wanted to test drive the truck to see if I liked it. She said she wouldn’t be there that evening but to ask for Sales Manager Steve Carter. I wasn’t looking for anything special other than expecting they’d have the truck ready and waiting for me because I had set an appointment. I suppose that was too much to ask. When I arrived, the truck was still sitting out front by the street. I had to wait five minutes for Mr. Carter to come meet me, and rather than assist me directly, he turned me over to a sales rep named Nate. Nate walked me out to the truck, attempted to start it only to find the battery was weak and it wouldn’t start. He had to haul an industrial battery charger out to get it started. (Remember…I was short on time, I had made it absolutely clear at the onset with Veronica.) I got in the truck and it was filthy and in extremely rough condition versus how it looks in photos on their website. But we backed the truck out to give it a try, and only to find it had a flat tire at front passenger side. Nate apologized but then took my contact info and said he’d look for other trucks for my consideration in the future. I didn’t ask for this. But I gave him the info. Over the next week or so I received texts from both Nate and Veronica, making it confusing which rep I was to deal with. Nate kept pushing other trucks he wanted to discuss with me. I inquired whether the truck I had come to see was still available and ready for an actual test drive. No response about that came back. So I went this week to Riverton Chevy’s website and used the email feature, sending a message to Mr. Carter that I would give them one last chance to work with me on the truck I had originally inquired about. Instead of him responding, I received a call from a used car sales manager named Lee, who over the phone told me the truck was ready for a test drive, had the battery replaced and it was cleaned up. I worked it out with him to come in this past week and take the truck for an extended test drive to have my mechanic inspect it, because after the experience I'd just had there's no way I'd have bought it otherwise. Lee did not bother to actually meet me while at the dealership when I went to pick it up, FYI. Anyway, here are the results of my mechanic’s inspection: • Transmission fluid is very dark. • Passenger headlight being held in with a pin • Driver’s door lock missing (handle worn out too) • Brake fluid very dark • Battery extremely weak (I thought Lee said they had replaced it??) • Streaking wipers • Washer sprayers don’t work • Steering gear leaking • Oil leaking at filter (or possibly leaking from rear main area) • Transmission leaking • Driver’s side rear HVAC vent broken • Headliner falling down around dome light • Passenger doors both missing (or broken) courtesy lights • Driver’s rear door missing courtesy light • Ignition tumbler problem • Driver’s door has a “wind whistle” in that it sounds like window is down all the time • Rotors likely warped • Brakes likely in need of replacement I had my mechanic stop right there. His overall assessment is the truck is it's “a pile.” As in a pile of crap. Riverton Chevy did nothing but receive the truck in stock and parked it as is. And they had the audacity to ask $17K+?? (Price at this publishing is less than $15K, but still…) I took the truck back to Riverton Chevy on Friday. I walked in and the lovely blonde at the front desk walked me over to Lee. I handed the keys to him and told him the truck had way too many issues for me to take it. He had a (somewhat fake) baffled expression on his face. “It’s a 2004 truck, what do you expect?” he asked, and then defended the truck as if it was his own personal vehicle. And he proceeded to argue with me that any 2004 vehicle is going to have issues. I responded I own a 2004 Tahoe with more miles on it than the truck has and mine would be considered in gleaming condition versus the pile of crap he’s trying to sell. “I could take your Tahoe to my mechanic and he’d come back with a list like yours,” Lee said. He actually said that to me. Now I was pissed. “No…he wouldn’t," I responded. "Because I’m a responsible owner who knows how to take care of a vehicle,” unlike Riverton Chevy, apparently. Lee just guaranteed I will never attempt to do business again with Riverton Chevy. Rather than having the attitude of doing whatever it takes to make a situation right, he actually took the A-Typical attitude of a used car salesman that pretty much everyone hates. Way to go, Lee. You’re a jerk. Not to mention, likely a liar. (See battery comment.) And as far as I’m concerned, Riverton Chevy’s brand is permanently tarnished. That they would sell such a lemon and not care? That just speaks volumes about why not to do business there. More
Amazing Experience This dealership was incredible to work with, from start to finish. Located a used vehicle that was exactly what I had been looking for to buy. The car This dealership was incredible to work with, from start to finish. Located a used vehicle that was exactly what I had been looking for to buy. The car had just been turned-in and wasn't actually in their inventory yet. However, Nathan Morin in sales, went above and beyond to assist me through each step of the way. There was no pressure, fair & honest treatment and they happily addressed every concern I had, prior to signing the purchase papers. Trust me, buying a car has never been more stress-free. I highly recommend Riverton Chevy. Thanks again! More

I wanted them to look at. They pulled in shop to look at and then the sales department kept pressuring & hounding me to give them the check and they PROMISED they would take care of the leak, no problem. Finally gave them the check and then they were gone, scattered like a bunch of rats. They won't take care of the repairs, offered me $500 just to go away. They are GREEDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They only care about the money, they could care less about the customer or customer satisfaction as long as they stick it to you. They knew there was a problem with the car and they knew once they had the money in hand it was an "as is" car and knew they could dump it on me. Just moved to Utah within the last month and already been ripped off thanks to this not-so-wonderful establishment. THIS DEALERSHIP IS NOT REPUTABLE, DO NOT TRUST THEM! Once they get your money they could care less about you, they got what they wanted...$$$$. Not the treatment you expect out of a GM dealer, you expect this treatment from a fly-by-night used car lot.
