The scam of vin etching This dealership claims it "etches" each new car as it arrives on the lot. It adds that cost (over $200) to the cost. It actually costs about $10.00 to do and is completely useless since the police don't value it at all and no insurance company will give you a discount for having it. The sales manager refused to drop it even though I did not authorize or want it. As a result, we walked away from the sale. Why deal with shady practices like that? More
