We brought in our 2018 Outback, which we bought at Rye Subaru, to Rye Subaru last December for the free upgrade of the STARLINK Safety Plus system. The car was promptly returned to us. I asked whether it had been fixed and the STARLINK safety system had been tested. The answer to both questions was Yes. Both answers were untrue. In early February we received a communication from Subaru that we should bring our Outback to our dealer for the very same upgrade of the STARLINK safety system that had allegedly been performed by our dealer, Rye Subaru, in December. I called Subaru itself, which confirmed that the upgrade had not been done and that the safety system was no longer operational. So we brought our car back to Rye Subaru; which tested it and confirmed what Subaru had said—the upgrade had not been done or, at least completed, and we had been driving without an operational safety system. We left our car there again, for the upgrade to finally be done. We came to pick it up after being told it was ready. I asked if it had been tested and now worked; again the answer to both questions was Yes. I insisted on the system being tested in my presence. Both answers were again untrue. The system did not work. We then left the car at Rye Subaru for, I think, 8 days. After being told there were no loaner cars available the General Manager got involved and we were given a free loaner car. I called repeatedly to find out what was going on with our car. It became clear that the mechanics at Rye Subaru did not know how to fix it and had repeatedly called Subaru for help. Thanks to the actions of the Assistant Service Manager, Paula, who became very involved, our car was finally fixed. The STARLINK safety system was tested in my presence, and it worked (so far as I could tell, since I was not going to crash the car to find out whether the air bags would inflate and, thus, the STARLINK system would automatically call for help).. Moral: if you have service work done at Rye Subaru, when you get your car back, before you leave, inspect/test it carefully, yourself, to make sure that the work was actually done, and done correctly. More

I liked how Annie let me test drive the Limited Edition turbo charged Subaru Outback XT during my first visit. She trusted me to drive this car alone. I appreciated this level of trust.
